Pro-Gun Org Celebrates Supreme Court Taking Up Smith & Wesson v. Mexico Case

The National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR) recently praised the Supreme Court’s decision to take up the Smith & Wesson v. Mexico case  in their first set of cases slated for the new term.

“It is impossible to overstate the importance of this case for the future of the Second Amendment. If Mexico gets what they’re asking for, it will go a long way toward enacting the provisions of the UN’s Small Arms Treaty, including a nationwide ‘assault weapons’ ban,” declared Hannah Hill, Vice President of the National Foundation for Gun Rights. “It’s an illegal lawsuit, because Congress passed the PLCAA to protect gun manufacturers from liability for the criminal actions of third parties. Mexico’s lawsuit against Smith & Wesson is an attempt to do just that.”

NAGR previously filed an amicus brief petitioning the court to hear the case. NAGR has plans of filing a second amicus brief calling on the Supreme Court to throw out Mexico’s lawsuit and maintain the protections firearms manufacturers enjoy that shielded them from legal liability for the criminal actions of third parties.

“The ramifications are unthinkable if Mexico were to win their lawsuit. It would pretty much put gun manufacturers out of business, undermine U.S. sovereignty, and replace it with United Nations-style gun controls bypassing Congress and the Second Amendment in the process,” proclaimed Dudley Brown, President of the National Association for Gun Rights.

The legal liability route of trying to sue firearms manufacturers into submission is the latest strategy Gun Control Inc. is using to impose their anti-gun vision. After all, they know at the federal level it is virtually impossible at the moment because of a gridlocked Congress.

However, these people do not rest and they will find every avenue possible to advance civilian disarmament. The good news is that owners can rest easy knowing that there are organizations like NAGR, who are willing to fight gun control at all levels — whether it’s the state, federal, local or even in the judicial system. Such devotion to defending our rights is necessary when confronting an enemy that wants to completely destroy them.
