Pro-Liberty Republican Seeks To Win Democrat-Held Seat In Florida

Military veteran Thomas Chalifoux wants to do the unthinkable in Florida’s Congressional District 9 — unseat Democrat incumbent Darren Soto.

According to inside sources, Chalifoux has raised over $2.1 million in funds and has $1.9 million of cash in hand. Florida’s 9th congressional district is generally perceived as a safe Democrat seat. However, in the last decade, the seat has gradually grown more competitive.

For example, in the 2016 and 2018 election cycles, Soto beat his Republican rivals by a comfortable 16-point margin. However, that margin has closed in the last few election cycles, with Soto winning by 8 points in the 2022 midterms.

The general assumption is that with Florida becoming a safe red state, districts like CD 9 could be potentially in play in 2024 and beyond. Chalifoux wants to capitalize on this trend.

Chalifoux is a decorated military veteran who has north of 30 years of military experience. During his lengthy military career, Chalifoux showcased strong leadership, long-term planning, and the execution of critical tasks. Chalifoux was rewarded with 29 service medals, military decorations, and badges for his distinguished military service.

After proudly serving his country, Chalifoux went on to start and grow multiple small businesses into multi-million operations. Chalifoux has experience in sectors such as commercial real estate, construction, development, health clubs, property management, ranching, restaurants, self-storage facilities, sewer utilities, and water.

On top of his business activity, Chalifoux has a solid track record of being involved in local politics. During his time as a member of Osceola County School Board (2000-2007), he was a staunch advocate for improving education quality and student success. From 2000 to 2004, he served as the Osceola County Republican State Committeeman, where he represented the values and interests of the GOP at the state level.

Chalifoux is currently running for Congress to take back the country from the out-of-touch ruling class in DC. He firmly believes that border security is a critical facet of national security and sovereignty. For Chalifoux, this can be achieved by enforcing the current law without spending exorbitant amounts of money. He believes that technological border surveillance can be bolstered through the use of drones, cameras, and sensors. On top of that, he believes that the federal government needs to prioritize the apprehension and expulsion of illegal aliens who constitute a threat to public safety or national security.

Further, Chalifoux is a staunch fiscal conservative who believes that wasteful spending must be curtailed at all costs due to the national debt crisis the US is facing. He views subsidies for special interest groups and outdated government programs as some of the types of spending that can be immediately cut.

The Republican candidate for Florida’s 9th congressional district also believes in energy independence. He wants to reduce red tape on the US’s energy sector so that the country can diversify its domestic energy portfolio and reduce its dependence on foreign oil.

Unquestionably, Chalifoux is no fan of the current system of government education. Instead, he wants to establish a system of schools that allows parents to choose from several educational options that span traditional public schools all the way to homeschooling arrangements.

All told, Chalifoux is the best liberty conservative for Florida’s 9th congressional district. To restore sanity in DC, we’re going to need all the pro-liberty conservatives we can get in Congress. Chalifoux fits the bill here and then some.
