Rep. Steve King (R-IA) is one of the strongest advocates to keep Western values intact in the U.S., pushing for President Trump’s border wall and restrictions on third-world immigration as fiercely as any member of Congress.
For sticking to his principles, King has been thrown to the wolves by the members of his own political party.
“It was a political lynch mob. I had to let the blood cool,” King said in an interview. “And the blood has now cooled, and now they don’t want to be faced with the reality of what they’ve done.”
Despite being treated like Julius Caesar by the modern-day equivalent of Roman senators – the GOP-dominated House of Representatives – King continues his fight to reclaim his committee seats that were stripped from him by craven Republican leaders in a show of fealty to the fake news media.
“They think if they can keep the subject tamped down, that eventually it goes away. But each day that goes by, my patience gets thinner and thinner. And that means, then, that I have to turn this up,” King said.
“I don’t want this to be the only thing I do in this Congress,” he added, “but it is something I will not let go of.”
King is not without his supporters in the House. Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) spoke during a Republican conference meeting on Tuesday to urge the reinstatement of King on the House Agriculture and Judiciary committees. Solidly right-wing conservatives such as Reps. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Paul Gosar (R-AZ) and Brian Babin (R-TX) are in King’s corner as well.
“It was unfair the way it was quoted,” Gohmert said, referring to the disputed interview quote from the New York Times that Republican House leadership seized upon to castigate the Iowa patriot.
King also pointed out that he still has a quality relationship with President Trump. He was invited to a White House immigration event a few weeks ago, as the President appreciates King for having his back on the immigration issue.
“The president and I are okay,” King said. “If you notice, he’s not been part of this.”
King is a sacrificial lamb for a Republican Party that hopes to chill Trump’s ‘America First’ mandate before rolling it back as soon as he departs office. But unfortunately for these subversive actors, King is prepared to go down swinging if that is what it takes.
“If we presume that every culture is equal and has an equal amount to contribute to our civilization, then we’re devaluing the contributions of the people that laid the foundation for America and that’s our founding fathers,” King said, as reported by the Des Moines Register. “It is not about race, it’s never been about race. It is about culture.”
The MAGA purge is underway, but it will not be successful if King and his pro-wall, pro-nationalism, pro-Western Civilization supporters can help it.
