Prosecutor Who Charged Officers In Freddie Gray Death Avoids Prison Time After Receiving Conviction for Fraud & Perjury

Former Baltimore District Attorney Marilyn Mosby avoided prison time during her sentencing on May 23, 2024 after receiving a conviction for perjury and mortgage fraud.

Mosby gained national attention after she charged police officers in the 2015 death of Free Gray.  A federal judge would later sentence Mosby to 12 months of home confinement and 100 hours of community service, per a report by the AP. Mosby was previously convicted of lying about her finances during the Wuhan virus pandemic to gain access to $90,000 to Baltimore’s deferred compensation plan in order to make down payments on vacation homes in Florida.

Although Mosby has avoided prison time, she initially faced up to 40 years of prison time, per a report by The Hill.

Mosby has insisted that she’s innocent. Her sentencing judge declared that Mosby’s lack of remorse was “a barrier” to her legal team’s demand that she not face time behind bars

James Wyda, one of the lawyers representing Mosby, announced they would be appealing her conviction and looking to receive a pardon from President Joe Biden. A coalition of liberal anti-white organizations sent a letter to Biden on May 7 calling on him to pardon Mosby.

“We share your desire for racial equity, Mr. President; this prosecution is a direct contradiction to your administration’s commitment to equity,” the letter declared.

Back in February 2022, Mosby’s defense team filed a motion to throw out the case against her, claiming that it was racially and politically motivated, per a report by Fox 5 News Baltimore.

Some individuals have been critical of Mosby’s record, arguing that she has not fought crime hard enough during her tenure. Homicide, rape, assault and robbery all significantly increased under her watch, per research by the The Heritage Foundation. In 2021, Mosby took steps to stop prosecuting drug possession, prostitution, and several types of traffic violations, in addition to other crimes, according toan NBC News report.

On top of that, Mosby threatened to prosecute federal agents if former President Donald Trump deployed them to restore order during the George Floyd riots of the summer of 2020.

Mosby, like most DAs on the cultural Left, think she’s above voter accountability and the law for the matter. Bad policies and acts of corruption have consequences. A proper right-wing government would work night and day to ensure that the likes of Mosby are put behind bars for a long time.
