Putin Speaks: West’s Image As Safe Haven is a “An Illusion”
During his Nation Address to the Federal Assembly on February 21, 2023, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that recent events have demonstrated that the West’s image as a safe haven has proven to be an illusion. “Recent developments made it perfectly clear that the West’s image as a safe haven and a shelter for capital has turned out to be an illusion. Those who failed to understand this in time, who viewed Russia only as a source of income and planned to mostly reside overseas, lost a lot. They were simply robbed there and even their legally earned money was taken from them,” Putin stated.
Per the Russian president, his prediction that Russian entrepreneurs will have “to swallow the dust” trying to save their money has become true. Putin pushed for Russian entrepreneurs to build wealth at home. He stressed that it was useless to recover any assets that they possessed that had been frozen abroad.
Indeed, the West is a decadent civilizational space filled with multiculturalism, political correctness, and wokism. On top of that, it has taken fanatically anti-Russian stances towards people that have no connection to the Kremlin in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In light of that, the West is by no means a safe space for Russians. At this juncture, most Russian nationals would likely be better served heading back to their country of origin as opposed to staying in an increasingly decadent West.
