Radical Leftists are Demanding that Statues at Lubbock County Courthouse be Taken Down

In the city of Lubbock, Texas, activists have organized a petition calling on the city government to remove two confederate statues in front of the county courthouse.

According to a report by KCBD, the petition has gathered 1,000 signatures so far.

“We pretty much just try to hear out our communities and serve them to the best of our ability,” Nanci Glitterati stated.

Glitterati belongs to an anti-racism group called LASER (Lubbock Activists Striving to End Racism), which drew up the petition.

The group was established last summer in the wake of George Floyd’s death.

At one of the protests that Glitterati participated in, she saw the writing on statues which made her immediately understand the significance of these objects.

“Lubbock wants to be coined the friendliest city out here, but yet we have a monument that completely disrespects the east side and the north side,” Glitterati remarked. “That’s just what it is, and there’s no way around it.”

The anti-racism activist believes the statues words’ are unacceptable.

“One of them, it definitely feeds the false narrative that slaves were giving food and all these other essentials willingly to the confederate army. It’s also talking about the Indian savages, and that’s quoting the monument itself. So it definitely comes from a time, which is not right after the war, where it’s feeding into that white supremacist narrative,” Glitterati stated.

Lubbock County Judge Curtis Parrish has a different view on the matter. He wants the statues to stay in place.

“I believe this marker, regardless of if someone finds any wording on it offensive, the marker itself has historical value and it will remain on the courthouse,” Parrish noted.

Parrish believes that the issue is “cosmetic” and that there are more pressuring issues to address in Lubbock.

“We’ve got a lot of issues, even here in our county, we have issues we need to address. Maybe it’s markers like this that can trigger those conversations,” he observed. “I absolutely love those conversations because I think it brings us as a people together to a better place.”

The iconoclastic behavior against American history will never end. The PC mobs won’t stop until they destroy every facet of American history that predated the Civil Rights Revolution. The anti- Confederate craze serves as a first step, since attacking Confederate history is a low-hanging fruit for the anti-American, radical Left.

The Texas GOP would be wise to make monument protection a key part of their political platform.
