Rand Paul Criticizes Joe Biden for Kowtowing to the Saudis
On July 17, 2022, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul criticized President Joe Biden for “begging and bowing down” to the Saudi Royal family in a farcical attempt to have the Arab kingdom increase its oil supply.
During an appearance on the John Catsimatidis WABC 770 AM radio show, Paul said “Rather than traveling to Saudi Arabia, [Biden] should be traveling to Texas or North Dakota, and he should be … asking our country to ramp up the supply instead of begging and bowing down to the Saudis and asking them to bump up their supply.”
“It’s not only bad economics, but it’s embarrassing for him to be over there … begging them for more oil. I couldn’t be more opposed to what he’s doing,” Paul continued.
The Senator added, “Everything the Biden administration has done has been to reduce the supply. They’ve banished pipelines. They’ve banished drilling permits. They’ve banished drilling leases. They’ve stopped the expansion of drilling into ANWR (Arctic National Wildlife Refuge), which is a portion of Alaska, which has enough oil to make us completely energy independent, probably for 100 years.”
Paul described Biden’s actions as an “all-out attack.” Paul alleged that Biden’s energy policies have scared away investment activity in America’s energy sector.
“It shouldn’t shock any of us that the price [of oil] has shot through the roof. There is a way to fix this. They could immediately start encouraging production [in America],” Paul suggested.
The Biden regime has been incredibly hostile to domestic oil and gas producers to the point that he has left the country in a geoeconomically vulnerable position where it’s begging despotic Arab regimes to ramp up oil production.
In a much saner polity, America would have a fully liberated energy sector that provides the country’s basic energy needs and exports whatever surplus it has. Reaching such a goal requires a new ruling class that’s willing to make tough policy decisions and gut the regulatory state.
Sadly, our present elites aren’t up to the task of reforming the energy sector and prefer to maintain the status quo much to the detriment of working class Americans.
