Reminder: The Greg Abbott Team is Not America First

As Texas Governor Greg Abbott faces stiff primary challenges from former Texas State Senator Don Huffines and Florida Congressman Allen West, more details begin to surface about Abbott’s sketchy political connections.
According to a report released by Michael Quinn Sullivan, the CEO of Empower Texans and Publisher of Texas Scorecard, one of Abbott’s senior campaign advisors has been criticizing former President Donald Trump in several instances on social media.
This has led to speculation about why Abbott is allowing this behavior to continue.
Abbott’s political director, Mitch Carney, is the one who’s been accused of making anti-Trump remarks. The Texas Governor has refused to answer questions about Carney’s anti-Trump rhetoric.
Sullivan noted that Carney is the son of New Hampshire-based political consultant Dave Carney.
Per the website JustThenews.com, Carney had a well-established pattern of behavior that went back over a year in which he attacked Trump. This was all done while working for Abbott.
For those with short-term memory: After the January 6 storming of the Capitol, Carney retweeted and liked several tweets that attacked former President Trump and Republican elected officials who voted against certifying the results of the 2020 election.
However, Sullivan observed that “Carney’s social media attacks extend beyond merely ‘liking’ swipes at Mr. Trump, and demonstrate a long-standing animosity.”
“Trumps own staff thinks he’s a joke,” Carney posted on Twitter back in 2015.
Sullivan highlighted incidents where Carney attacked Trump:
“Among other more recent examples, Carney can be found “liking” posts—such as those by Tom Giovanetti, the president of the Dallas-based Institute for Policy Innovation—that follow the Democrat narrative in blaming President Trump for the situation at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. Carney also approvingly “liked” a different post referring to the January 6 activities as ‘domestic terrorism.’”
Jessie Jane Duff, who served as a Trump 2020 campaign co-chair, tweeted about how Carney’s statements were not a surprise to her. “He doesn’t even hide his [Trump Derangement Syndrome].”
There are many anti-America First types lurking throughout state legislatures nationwide. Liberty conservatives must become cut-throat and purge any anti-Trump people within their ranks to assure that America First agendas are fully implemented. It’s a universal constant in politics: The enemy usually lies within.
