Rep. Thomas Massie Announces the Launch of New 'Church Committee' to Investigate Deep State Corruption

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) announced on Fox News’ Tucker Carlson Live on Friday night that he will be on a new committee modeled after the influential Church Committee of the 1970s to investigate deep state corruption and potential criminality.

“We were making sure that this committee wasn’t going to be fenced in, that it wasn’t just going to be a show committee. We wanted to make sure that we have full jurisdiction…We’ve secured a guarantee that we can go wherever the evidence leads us,” he said.

Carlson asked Massie how this new committee would be more successful than previous committees, which were stonewalled by the deep state and ultimately ineffective at rooting out systemic corruption from the three-letter agencies of the federal intelligence bureaucracy.

“We’ve been talking to the intel committee, which has the authority to get all that information…You’re going to have to trust the people who are put on this committee. And if there is something fishy going on, I’ll…tell you, but a lot of it will be behind closed doors. It will be classified information, but if we find anything illegal or unconstitutional we will bring it forward,” Massie said.

Carlson said that he trusted Massie and would invite him back to his program in order to talk about the committee’s findings regarding deep state corruption and criminality.

“As President Donald Trump continues his war with the Democratic Party and the deep state, left-wing journalist Matt Taibbi is growing increasingly concerned with the “permanent coup” that is being waged by the intelligence community against the White House.

He released an article last week explaining that, from his perspective, the threat posed by President Donald Trump pales in comparison to that of the shadow bureaucracy operating from Washington D.C.

“My discomfort in the last few years, first with Russiagate and now with Ukrainegate and impeachment, stems from the belief that the people pushing hardest for Trump’s early removal are more dangerous than Trump,” Taibbi explains in his column.

“Many Americans don’t see this because they’re not used to waking up in a country where you’re not sure who the president will be by nightfall. They don’t understand that this predicament is worse than having a bad president,” he writes.

Taibbi believes that Democrats are opening Pandora’s Box by enabling the deep state to potentially remove an elected president based on obviously fabricated nonsense.

“Russiagate birthed a whole brand of politics, a government-in-exile, which prosecuted its case against Trump via a constant stream of “approved” leaks, partisans in congress, and an increasingly unified and thematically consistent set of commercial news outlets,” Taibbi explains.

“These mechanisms have been transplanted now onto the Ukrainegate drama. It’s the same people beating the public drums, with the messaging run out of the same congressional committees, through the same Nadlers, Schiffs, and Swalwells. The same news outlets are on full alert,” he writes.

Taibbi believes that the Democrats are guilty of virtually everything they accuse Trump of doing, and reinforces many narratives that are regularly pushed by the President from his Twitter account.

“Trump stands accused of using the office of the presidency to advance political aims, in particular pressuring Ukraine to investigate potential campaign rival Joe Biden. He’s guilty, but the issue is how guilty, in comparison to his accusers,” Taibbi explains.

“Trump, at least insofar as we know, has not used section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act to monitor political rivals. He hasn’t deployed human counterintelligence “informants” to follow the likes of Hunter Biden. He hasn’t maneuvered to secure Special Counsel probes of Democrats,” he writes.”

The new Republican-led House could be interesting if this committee comes to fruition with Massie and his colleagues being able to pry into the inner workings of the illicit deep state. That is a big if, however, considering that the new House Speaker is infamous RINO Kevin McCarthy.
