Representative Matt Gaetz Floats 2024 Presidential Run
Republican House member Matt Gaetz, who has represented Florida’s 1st Congressional District since he assumed office in 2017, has once again made headlines teasing a potential 2024 run.
Gaetz revealed his plan last Wednesday in a text message to the New York Post, making sure to take jabs at Joe Biden as well.
“I support Donald Trump for president. I’ve directly encouraged him to run and he gives me every indication he will,” Gaetz told the Post. “If Trump doesn’t run, I’m sure I could defeat whatever remains of Joe Biden by 2024.”
Gaetz has been one of former President Trump’s most vocal supporters in Congress and has recently started an “America First” speaking tour alongside Representive Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga.
In the midst of the tour, both representatives managed to ruffle the feathers of many anti-American actors on the left, with the United Kingdom’s Daily Mail lamenting Gaetz’s pro Second Amendment views and falsely suggesting that he is inciting violence.
Gaetz also appeared to be trying to set himself up for a future 2024 run, invoking rhetoric that arguably appeals to the vast majority of the Trump base.
“Thousands of miles away in the swamp of Washington, they kind of hope that this was all over, that our populist little revolt would run away and no longer be a part of our national identity,” Gaetz told an audience during at a recent tour stop in Mesa, Arizona. “Oh, we are just starting.”
Gaetz also spoke in a manner that went in line with more traditional Republicans, invoking Ronald Reagan.
“It’s been too many years since an inspirational President Ronald Reagan told us that it was ‘morning in America again.’ Too often now it seems like it’s twilight for Joe Biden. If it was morning in America under Reagan, it sort of seems like nap time in America when Joe Biden is the president. I think it’s about time to wake up our fellow countrymen,” Gaetz said when encouraging a “new generation of patriots” to involve themselves in politics.
Gaetz has been a rising star in the Republican party as of late, so much so that the Department of Justice and New York Times have been investigating and reporting in overtime about alleged sexual crimes. Thus far, not a single woman in the United States has accused Matt Gaetz of any kind of crime involving sexual matters.
Given that the famous tape of former President Trump saying “Grab her by the pu***” quote of Donald Trump did not bring him down, it is hard to believe that the current baseless DOJ allegations against Gaetz will have any lasting effect if Gaetz does run.
