Republican-Controlled House Approves Impeachment Inquiry Into Joe Biden

On December 13, 2023, the United States House approved an impeachment inquiry into incumbent President Joe Biden.

This move was approved on strictly partisan lines by a vote of 221 to 212, with all Republicans voting in favor of the impeachment inquiry.

House Democrats universally opposed this move arguing that represented a form of petty partisanship.

Biden criticized the vote as well, describing it as a “baseless political stunt.” while also calling into question the priorities of House Republicans in going for an inquiry against him and his family, per media reports.

“Instead of doing anything to help make Americans’ lives better, they are focused on attacking me with lies,” Biden said in the conclusion of the vote. “Instead of doing their job on the urgent work that needs to be done, they are choosing to waste time on this baseless political stunt that even Republicans in Congress admit is not supported by facts.”

The impeachment investigation will extend well into 2024, which could impact Biden as seeks re-election as the Democratic Party’s nominee.

For his part, former President Donald Trump was impeached by the then-Democrat-controlled House during his time in office. This latest I impeachment launched against Biden shows that there’s a tit-for-tat struggle in Congress between Democrats and Republicans who have become increasingly polarized in recent years.

Such tensions will continue to mount as the US grows more racially and culturally polarized. There will no longer be debates about public policy.

Instead, people will clash based on tribalistic lines, which could turn violent if this behavior is not properly checked.

Sadly, this is how politics is breaking down in the US these days and the Right must be prepared to fight in drawn out existential struggles against an increasingly aggressive Left.
