Right Wing Watch’s Jared Holt Says He ‘Absolutely’ Hates America

Right Wing Watch blogger Jared Holt, who makes a living scaremongering about “white nationalism,” admitted Wednesday that he “absolutely” hates America.
“absolutely. nicolas cage should have never given back the Declaration of Independence,” he said, couching his hatred in a bad joke which makes reference to the film National Treasure.
He was responding to InfoWars host Owen Shroyer, who was needling him by pointing out that Holt’s site often conflates American nationalism or protectionism with “white supremacy,” the leftist boogeyman.
“Too afraid to tag me these days? Shroyer said. “Jared, I hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but you are a white nationalist. Unless of course you hate America. Do you hate America, Jared?”
Right Wing Watch is a project of leftist nonprofit People for the American Way, thus it relies on donations to exist. If there is no “white nationalist” boogeyman to fight, there’s no reason for the nonprofit – or for Right Wing Watch – to exist. It is similar to the Southern Poverty Law Center, currently facing trouble of its own, in that it fundraises from alleged hate.
In 2016, it raised a heft $7.5 million using this model.
PFAW and its foundation, the PFAW Foundation, describe themselves as “progressive advocacy organizations founded to fight right-wing extremism and defend constitutional values under attack, including free expression, religious liberty, equal justice under the law, and the right to meaningfully participate in our democracy.”
But Holt proudly took credit for having InfoWars’ Alex Jones banned from social media in an August Salon interview.
As with most progressive organizations, PFAW apparently believes that “free expression” should only be protected for those who agree with their political opinions.
