Ron DeSantis Defends Holding Twitter Stock

DeSantis Defends Holding Twitter Stock-

Banished journalist and U.S. Congressional candidate Laura Loomer questioned Ron DeSantis at a recent press conference in which the Florida Governor was pushing higher education reform.

Loomer questioned the state of Florida holding Twitter stock, and DeSantis’ answer was to defend his state investing in the Big Tech monopoly. He refused to commit to divesting in Twitter despite their hostile deplatforming of conservative leaders.

“Given the fact that Twitter is violating and disrespecting your calls for not interfering in Florida elections…would you commit today to just completely divesting and selling all the shares that Florida owns in Twitter stocks?” Loomer asked.

“Well, if we did that, we would not have standing to hold the board of directors accountable and so, if that’s a viable litigation strategy, you know, I think that gives us standing to do it,” DeSantis responded, adding that the governor’s office does not typical get involved in the state’s investment decisions.

DeSantis also paid lip service to his “Big Tech accountability bill” that has done nothing to protect free speech in his state.

Big League Politics has reported on Loomer’s battle against Twitter and other tech giants that are setting policies to destroy the Republican Party:

Banished journalist Laura Loomer, a Republican candidate for Florida’s 21st Congressional District, is calling out Big Tech for their reliance on Chinese slave labor to maximize their grotesque profit margins.

Loomer has been labeled a dangerous individual by the tech giants, booted from mainstream social media platforms, and choked off from the payment processors for speaking her mind. She believes it is the height of hypocrisy to be punished for her conservative beliefs while Big Tech is openly in bed with China.

“…They want to try to kill us in a digital manner by subjecting us to a digital gulag, but look what they’re doing in the countries which they’re outsourcing all of their manufacturing to and then these countries like China where they’re getting all of their executives and people to serve on their board,” Loomer told Infowars’ Alex Jones, another man who has been regularly discriminated against by Big Tech.

Loomer points to the human rights violations that China has perpetrated against the Uyghurs, a Muslim minority who China is viciously punishing for exercising their freedom of religion. Loomer has been frequently called an Islamophobe by the Left for drawing attention to human rights abuses in predominantly Muslim countries while leftist-driven Big Tech entities gleefully support a country that is committing a soft genocide against a Muslim sect.

“Nobody’s doing anything about it,” Loomer added. “I completely feel your pain.”

An Australian Strategic Policy report from earlier this year measured the extent of the slave labor that Uyghurs have been forced to perform by China. The report stated that “more than 80,000 Uyghurs were transferred out of Xinjiang to work in factories across China between 2017 and 2019, some of them were sent directly from detention camps” under “conditions that strongly suggest forced labor.”

DeSantis is doing a great job as governor overall, but his stance on Big Tech is not strong enough to defend free speech. He would be wise to seek the console of Loomer, who is running in the 11th U.S. Congressional District against incumbent Dan Webster.
