Russian Diplomat Claims Western Countries Will Occupy Parts of Ukraine

On July 6, 2023, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova declared during a briefing that Ukrainian authorities are making preparations for Western countries to occupy parts of Ukraine.

“They [Kiev authorities] are merely waiting; they prepare Ukrainian territory for occupation. To be occupied by those who is supposed to govern them, because [Ukrainian President Vladimir] Zelensky denied the people of Ukraine an option to govern their own state,” Zakharova stated.

Zakharova stressed that Ukraine has been effectively under foreign control for some time already.

“Nothing is left of its sovereignty and independence. Now, Zelensky cracks down on the Ukrainian people,” she stated. “This is his mission, this is the goal that he was given. Therefore, it is only natural that the Kiev regime has no secrets from a foreign intelligence, and it cannot have any.”

Indeed, the Collective West knows that the Russo-Ukrainian War is not going well for it at all. In all likelihood, Russia will achieve a costly victory that will see Ukraine split on a roughly eastern-western line. The Western part of the country will likely see some form of NATO coalition set up shop up there, or at least the Baltic countries and Poland installing themselves to create a de facto 21st century Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth arrangement.

This will guarantee decades of tension between Russia and the Collective West. Only a rational, realist foreign policy will allow for the situation in Ukraine to stabilize and a compromise to be made that preserves geopolitical stability in the region.
