Russian Diplomat Says Russia and the United States are Currently in the “Hot Conflict Phase”
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov believes that certain aspects of the hybrid war the United States and its satrapies in NATO are waging against Russia are unprecedented and were not present during the Cold War
In response to a question posed during an interview with the Sputnik radio station on April Wednesday, Ryabkov claimed Russia and the US have “already passed through” the Cold War phase in their relations and are currently in the “phase of a hot conflict”.
“I think we have already passed this period. Now we are in the phase of a hot conflict with the United States. We are witnessing the direct involvement of that country in a hybrid war with Russia on various fronts,” Ryabkov added.
The Russian diplomat warned that the Collective West’s continued delivery of military aid to Ukraine is increasing the possibility of a nuclear war.
“Unfortunately, there has been much talk about the risk of a nuclear conflict. It’s a rather dramatic issue,” Ryabkov observed.
“I must stress that the Russian side is fully committed to the well-known postulates, which have been repeatedly stated recently, including at the highest level, to the effect there can be no winners in a nuclear war and that it must not be unleashed.”
However, he added that Americans are “recklessly, provocatively, and carelessly” intensifying the situation.
“The way they are blinded by their absolutely absurd certainty about their ability to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia makes one doubt their mental faculties and their common sense.”
The implications of a nuclear conflict between Russia and the US are frightening to say the least. These two countries possess nearly 90% of the globe’’s nuclear arsenal.
On top of that, Ryabkov remarked that Russia’s rivals were “playing with fire in the truest sense of the word.”
“They ought to be aware what any encroachment on our sovereignty, our territorial integrity and our statehood [will entail]. If this trend persists, we will be ready to take all measures and to use all means at our disposal in order to defend ourselves and ensure that our sovereignty is guaranteed,” he stated.
“Underestimation of this resolve of ours is perhaps the worst thing that can happen or, conversely, not happen in the minds of our adversaries. We caution them against making fatal mistakes.”
Russia no longer plans to give the US prior notice about its missile tests as outlined by the START nuclear agreement that Russia has suspended.
“There will be no notifications at all,” Ryabkov stated with regards to Russia’s decision to stop issuing notices about the planned missile tests.
“All notifications, all kinds of notifications, all activities within the framework of the treaty will be suspended and will not be conducted regardless of what position the US may take.”
Russian authorities have said that the Russian state can’t accept US inspections of its nuclear facilities under the agreement during a time when the US and its NATO allies have pursued Russia’s defeat in Ukraine.
Indeed, tensions between Russia and the US are only getting worse. Cooler heads are needed here to prevent a geopolitical tragedy of colossal proportions. Russia is no Afghanistan, Iraq or Libya. It’s a nuclear power that’s willing to defend its national interest no matter the cost.
Sadly, few US leaders have been able to understand this.
