Russian Official Says that NATO has Already Been Defeated in Ukraine
In an interview with Russian state media outlet TASS, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko said that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has already been defeated in Ukraine.
“NATO has already been defeated in Ukraine. This defeat is connected with the collapse of the project of turning Ukraine into ‘anti-Russia’,” Grushko declared.
On October 11, 2022, during a meeting of defense ministers of NATO member nations, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that a Russian victory in the Russo-Ukrainian conflict would represent a defeat for NATO. In Stoltenberg’s view, this is an unacceptable outcome.
For NATO, the Russo-Ukrainian War is the perfect proxy conflict to poke Russia in the eye. Leaders in the Collective West can green light massive amounts of military aid and wax poetically about the virtues of democracy while hundreds of thousands of young Ukrainian men are sent to the meat grinder in a conflict that could have been prevented if the West had exercised a modicum of restraint.
Therein lies the tragedy of great power politics.
It would behoove the West to re-assess its foreign policy measures and start rolling back its expansionist projects, especially during a time when many Western countries face greater threats from the Third World hordes their leaders have invited in droves.
