Russian Politician Believes Ukraine Could Still Pull Off Nuclear False Flag Attack

On July 7, 2023, Vladimir Rogov, the chairman of the We Stand With Russia movement, said to Russian state media outlet TASS that the threat of a potential nuclear false flag by Ukraine in the Zaporozhye Region had not fallen.

Kirill Budanov, the director of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate, said to The Times in a previous interview that the danger of an artificial technogenic catastrophe at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) was quietly occurring. However, he did not explicitly detail why this is transpiring

“I am not seeing a reduction in risks of a nuclear false flag. Budanov’s statement in this sense is aimed at reducing our vigilance,” Rogov stated .

On a previous occasion, Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelensky blamed the Russian government for devising a terrorist attack directed  against the nuclear facility. He informed the United States, Brazil, India and China, in addition to European, Middle Eastern, and African countries about this alleged scheme but provided no evidence to defend his allegations. Russian government Spokesman Dmitry Peskov lashed out against these allegations describing them as another set of lies. Per Renat Karchaa, adviser to the CEO of Russian nuclear power corporation Rosenergoatom, Zelensky’s statements may suggest that Ukrainian authorities are plotting to launch a terrorist attack or strike on the ZNPP in an effort to directly lure NATO into a direct conflict with Russia — a conflict that will likely go nuclear should it go down.

The Zaporozhye nuclear facility is located in Energodar. It possesses roughly 6GW of capacity and is the largest of its type in Europe. Russian military forces gained control of the plant in late February. Since then, Ukrainian army units have sporadically shelled both the residential districts close to Energodar and the premises of the nuclear plant itself, through the use of drones, heavy artillery, and multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS).

Ukraine knows it’s losing the war against Russia, which enjoys massive escalatory dominance against Ukraine. As a result, desperate Ukrainian authorities will try to do everything possible to draw in the US and its NATO satrapies directly into this conflict.

If the US actually had a serious political class, it would reject all forms of Ukrainian attempts to bait it into this conflict. Moreover, the US should go to great lengths to ensure that Ukraine reaches a peaceful settlement with Russia as opposed to continue escalating tensions with it.
