San Francisco Merchants Threaten Tax Strike If City Doesn’t Address Homeless Problem

Merchants in San Francisco are fed up with the woke politics that are turning their city into a liberal hell hole infested with crime, homelessness, and drug abuse.

To combat this lack of action by lawmakers in power, the Castro Merchants Association told SF officials on Tuesday to “take action” against “burglaries and never-ending vandalism/graffiti (often committed by unhoused persons).”

“Our community is struggling to recover from lost business revenue … and we implore you to take action,” the association said.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, “Business owners across the city saw a rise in burglaries and vandalism in 2020 compared with 2019.”

“In the Castro, the merchants association recorded more than 90 incidents totaling over $170,000 in repair costs since 2020,” and “in 2021, there were a total of 25 reported incidents.”

Per the Chronicle, the group demands the city “designate 35 of the city’s shelter beds for the neighborhood’s homeless population, create a comprehensive plan on how to offer services to individuals who repeatedly decline help, and provide monthly metrics on how many people in the community have been offered services and shelter.”

“If the city can’t provide the basic services for them to become a successful business, then what are we paying for?” said association co-president Dave Karraker.

Watching liberal cities like SF crash and burn is nothing new. As Americans are quickly realizing that their tax money is going nowhere to solve the rising crime, homelessness, and drug abuse problems that are hurting law-abiding citizens.

As Big League Politics reported last week, tourists, homeowners, and workers are noticing these spikes in crime and drug use, so they are fleeing in droves.

According to new research by the Institute of Governmental Studies at UC Berkeley, San Francisco’s central business district is currently operating at just 31%.

Per the Daily Mail:

San Francisco’s downtown activity was down to 31 compared to 2019 as the city contends with high crime despite finally agreeing to shut down its controversial open-air drug market by the end of the year.

Cities like these are scaring away law-abiding citizens because they are letting woke politics infiltrate everything from crime to homelessness. Which is turning away citizens who want safety and a good community for raising children.

They seemingly have no choice at this point. Things have gotten out of control.

Fortunately, it looks like the merchants are finally fighting back against all the lawlessness. Making their demands clear, concise, and actionable.
