Senate Republicans Demand Sworn Testimony From ‘Woke’ Military Leaders Over Disastrous Afghanistan Withdrawal

Senate Republicans are demanding sworn testimony from “woke” military leaders regarding the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.

The Daily Caller broke the story of Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) spearheading a letter that was signed by nine other Republicans demanding that Secretary Lloyd Austin, General Mark Milley and General Kenneth McKenzie give sworn testimony about their humiliating failed pullout in Afghanistan.

“It is necessary and appropriate for Congress to examine the manner in which our military mission ended in Afghanistan. We should do so with transparency, candor, and a dedication to ascertaining the facts without regard to politics,” Tuberville wrote in the letter.

“We understand that in the coming months, many committees will claim the authority to ask questions regarding our military’s withdrawal. Yet, because our committee bears the special responsibility of authorizing and overseeing America’s armed forces, we acutely feel the obligation to seek answers,” he added.

The other Republican lawmakers who signed the letter include Sens. Roger Wicker (MS), Tom Cotton (AR), Joni Ernst (IA), Thom Tillis (NC), Dan Sullivan (AK), Kevin Cramer (SD), Rick Scott (FL), Marsha Blackburn (TN), and Josh Hawley (MO).

Big League Politics has reported on how dozens of retired military generals are demanding that Milley resign as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Austin resign as Secretary of Defense:

Some 90 retired generals and admirals have signed their names to an open letter urging Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin to resign over their roles in the Biden’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan.

The letter’s signatories, who belong to a group called “Flag Officers 4 America”, state: “The hasty retreat has left initial estimates at 15,000 Americans stranded in dangerous areas controlled by a brutal enemy along with 25,000 Afghan citizens who supported American forces.”

Therefore, the nearly 90 retired and admirals who signed the letter are calling for “the resignation and retirement of the Secretary of Defense (SECDEF) and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff based on negligence in performing their duties primarily involving the events surrounding the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan”.

The letter notes that Milley and Austin failed to submit recommendations “against this dangerous withdrawal in the strongest possible terms”, and because they “did not do everything within their authority to stop the hasty withdrawal, they should resign”…

Calls for the resignation of Milley and Austin came on Monday as the last U.S. flight out of Afghanistan lifted off from Kabul airport, marking the end of the United States’ two-decade-long combat mission in Afghanistan.

The open letter goes on to explain the “enormous” consequences of Biden’s botched withdrawal, including the billions of dollars of U.S. military equipment now in the hands of the Taliban.

“The consequences of this disaster are enormous and will reverberate for decades beginning with the safety of Americans and Afghans who are unable to move safely to evacuation points… The death and torture of Afghans has already begun and will result in a human tragedy of major proportions. The loss of billions of dollars in advanced military equipment and supplies falling into the hands of our enemies is catastrophic. The damage to the reputation of the United States is indescribable… Trust in the United States is irreparably damaged.”

The generals and admirals also slammed Austin and Milley for “placing mandatory emphasis on PC ‘wokeness’ related training which is extremely divisive and harmful to unit cohesion, readiness, and warfighting capability.”

“Our military exists to fight and win our Nation’s wars and that must be the sole focus of our top military leaders,” the letter concludes.”

Milley has defended the vehemently racist and anti-American critical race theory in public hearings while Austin has praised transgenders for fighting in the American Revolution. These career bureaucrats bring shame and dishonor to the uniform.
