Senator Marco Rubio Wakes Up To West Taiwan’s Geopolitical Threat

Senator Marco Rubio.

Senior Senator from Florida and failed Presidential candidate Marco Rubio has historically been behind policies that pose tremendous harm to the average American, most notably his participation in the Gang of Eight that would have effectively amnestied most illegal aliens in the country. Indeed, his 2016 Presidential campaign slogan, “A New American Century”, seemed to most as far more from a standard neocon phrasebook rather than the Tea Party-style energy that propelled him to power in 2010. Fortunately, as that old saying goes, a stopped clock is right twice a day, as this most recent incident demonstrates.

According to The Epoch Times, Sen. Rubio was lamenting a complaint made by an American airplane maker that geopolitical tensions between America and West Taiwan have caused the increasingly belligerent government in Bejing to lash out against American companies, in this case purchasing airplanes from European companies instead. Sen. Rubio brought this example up to illustrate the dependence large swathes of the American economy has on the whims of the West Taiwanese government, whims that are becoming ever more difficult to ascertain in recent years. This increasing unpredictability has, in large part, been caused by the increasingly sporadic behavior of West Taiwanese leader and Winnie-the-Pooh lookalike Xi Jin Ping. Indeed, Xi’s increasingly desperate attempts to hold onto power have resulted in increasing saber-rattling in an attempt to draw his people’s attention away from their increasingly unstable situation at home.

“So just imagine we’re getting to that point, China’s decided they’re going to go in [and invade Taiwan] and they say to America: ‘It’s very simple. If you get involved in Taiwan or for that matter, Japan or whoever else’s territory we want to go after, we are going to cut you off these things.’ And you depend on these things,” said Rubio during his interview with Epoch TV’s “American Thought Leaders”.

Indeed, it would seem that this vulnerability does in fact go both ways, as geopolitical strategist Peter Zeihan has pointed out many times. Unfortunately, it would seem that the Biden regime is content with allowing America’s dependence on West Taiwan to persist, even as the West Taiwanese are working day and night to plug in theirs. Whether Bejing will be able to address West Taiwan’s vulnerabilities before its demographics fully implode remains something that only time can tell.
