SHAKING: AOC Says Trump ‘Cheapens’ the Medal of Freedom by Giving it to ‘Virulent Racist’ Rush Limbaugh

President Donald Trump gave conservative icon Rush Limbaugh the Presidential Medal of Freedom last night during the State of the Union (SOTU) address, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is not happy about it.
The firey latinx ‘Squad’ member, who skipped the SOTU proceedings out of anger toward Trump, voiced her displeasure about Trump bestowing Limbaugh with the prestigious honor.
“[T]he Presidential Medal of Freedom is an extraordinarily sacred award,” she said during an Instagram Live appearance. “We’re talking about putting someone on the same level as Rosa Parks, you know, for example in terms of their contributions to American progress.”
“Rush Limbaugh is a virulent racist, but even just on top of that, to do it in the middle of a State of the Union and not even dignify it with its own ceremony as it has — there’s all sorts of norms that are being violated, not just for people’s humanity, but also it truly just cheapens the value of it,” she added.
Trump gave Limbaugh the award shortly after he announced his diagnosis of stage 4 lung cancer on his radio show. There has since been an outpouring of love and support from conservatives nationwide, who are putting the talk radio giant in their prayers.
“Here tonight is a special man, someone beloved by millions of Americans, who just received a stage 4 advanced cancer diagnosis. This is not good news, but what is good news is that he is the greatest fighter and winner that you will ever meet,” Trump said during his remarks.
Ocasio-Cortez was far from the only liberal who was triggered by Limbaugh receiving the award. Many are seething that Limbaugh, who has been the bane of their existence for decades, is now a recipient one of the nation’s highest honors.
“Few people have done more to degrade our political discourse than Rush Limbaugh,” wrote Matt Duss, a Bernie Sanders foreign policy advisor, in a tweet. “It’s an absolute disgrace that he’s being honored here.”
“Having Melania present Rush Limbaugh with a Presidential Medal of Freedom (!) in the midst of #SOTU is both disgusting and pure right-wing genius,” wrote far-left Intercept journalist Mehdi Hasan in a tweet.
“He was trying to make appeals to the African-American community,” said notorious CNN fake news man Jim Acosta. “It can’t be forgotten he was awarding the Medal of Freedom to Rush Limbaugh, who has a history of making derogatory comments about African-Americans. So I think, you know, overall it’s a wash.”
Nevertheless, Limbaugh’s name is now etched in the history books among the greatest Americans who have ever lived, and there is nothing triggered liberals like Ocasio-Cortez can do to change that.
