SHE’S OUT: Rep. Liz Cheney is Ejected From House GOP Leadership by Voice Vote
Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) was removed from House Republican leadership on Wednesday by a voice vote of her own constituents.
Cheney voted to impeach former president Donald Trump and has embarked on a crusade against Trump and his supporters in recent weeks. She is especially adamant that no voter fraud occurred in the 2020 presidential election and that her own constituents should be profiled as terrorists.
“I am absolutely committed as I said last night, as I said just now to my colleagues, that we must go forward based on truth. We cannot both embrace the big lie and embrace the Constitution,” Cheney said following her ouster.
“The nation needs a strong Republican Party, the nation needs a party that is based upon fundamental principles of conservatism, and I am committed and dedicated to ensuring that that’s how this party goes forward, and I plan to lead the fight to do that,” she added.
Cheney made it clear that she will work with Democrats to stop Trump from ever regaining the presidency.
“We have seen the danger that he continues to provoke with his language. We have seen his lack of commitment and dedication to the Constitution. And I think it’s very important that we make sure whomever we elect, is somebody who will be faithful to the Constitution,” she said.
“I think that it is an indication of where the Republican Party is, and I think that the party is in a place that we’ve got to bring it back from, And we’ve got to get back to a position where we are a party that can fight for conservative principles that can fight for substance, we cannot be dragged backward, by the very dangerous lies of a former president,” Cheney added.
Trump responded via email to the news of Cheney’s dismissal from leadership. He is predictably very happy with the news as the GOP is remade to his liking.
“Liz Cheney is a bitter, horrible human being. I watched her yesterday and realized how bad she is for the Republican Party. She has no personality or anything good having to do with politics or our Country. She is a talking point for Democrats, whether that means the Border, the gas lines, inflation, or destroying our economy,” Trump wrote about Cheney.
“She is a warmonger whose family stupidly pushed us into the never-ending Middle East Disaster, draining our wealth and depleting our Great Military, the worst decision in our Country’s history. I look forward to soon watching her as a Paid Contributor on CNN or MSDNC!” he added.
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) noted how cowards in the GOP establishment, particularly House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), protected Cheney for months even as she was repeating Democrat talking points and driving a wedge through the party.
Cheney eventually became too much of an albatross for the GOP establishment to tolerate. Unfortunately, Cheney is likely to be replaced by Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), another RINO with an America Last voting record of betraying the people.
