State Department Helped Facilitate Funding for NGO that Allegedly Censors Conservative News Outlets

According to the State Department’s website, it cooperated with the Global Disinformation Index (GDI) to facilitate funding for the latter in efforts to demonetize sites it asserts are spreading “disinformation,” which includes conservative news outlets.

The Daily Caller reported that the State Department did so via its Global Engagement Center (GEC). The GDI is a non-profit organization based in the United Kingdom. It describes itself as a “non-political” watchdog organization that aims to “disrupt the business model of disinformation.” The GDI has listed  the Disinfo Cloud, a now-defunctGEC project, as a key source of funding. GDI has engaged in efforts to demonetize conservative news sites by working with ad exchanges to identify actors allegedly engaging in the dissemination of disinformation, per a Washington Examiner report published on February 9.

GDI keeps a “dynamic exclusion list” of the most prolific purveyors of online disinformation, according to its website. The organization subsequently provides this list to ad tech companies, who then “defund and downrank these worst offenders.” In turn, these sites allegedly spreading disinformation witness a drop in revenue.

Among the conservative news outlets in this list that were determined to be the “riskiest” for their alleged dissemination of disinformation, were  theNew York Post, the Daily Wire, and the Washington Examiner. By contrast, the “least risky” sites were leftist ones.

Indeed, there’s a corporate-state conspiracy to destroy right-wing discourse in America. This is the real collusion that the corporate media refuses to talk about. The Right has to get in the game and recognize that it’s in the crosshairs.

Once in power, conservatives and other right-wingers must be prepared to use state action against private entities that are willfully engaged in such nefarious behavior to censor right-wing discourse. We’re no longer talking about healthy political debates or competition here. We’re looking at one side — the Left— that’s playing for keeps and is using all mechanisms at its disposal — state and private power — to destroy its opposition.

Will the Right finally get a clue and start adapting its governing strategy? That remains to be seen.
