STUDY: Zoomers Want More Action Movies, Less Woke Flicks
A recently published survey by the University of California Los Angeles revealed that Generation Z prefers watching movies depicting two males fighting each other, as opposed to movies filled with woke content.
Zoomers ranked superhero movies and action flicks high in their preferred movie genre list. In addition, this demographic prefers “hopeful, uplifting content with people beating the odds” and “people with lives like my own,” per the UCLA survey.
By contrast, Zoomers ranked “Nonbinary and LGBTQIA+ Identities” at the very bottom, per the survey from UCLA’s Center for Scholars and Storytellers.
Furthermore, the survey discovered that Zoomers are not interested in movies rife with sexual content.
What the survey’s respondents noted is that entertainment media is used “to escape and take my mind off of things.”
In addition, storylines centered around political content such as “racial minorities,” “climate change,” and “immigration” are not even ranked in the top 10 for Zoomers..
Per the study, “47.5% of adolescents said that sex isn’t needed for the plot of most TV shows and movies.”
“We know that young people are suffering an epidemic of loneliness and they’re seeking modeling in the art they consume,” researcher Yalda Uhls declared in the news release. “While some storytellers use sex and romance as a shortcut to character connection, it’s important for Hollywood to recognize that adolescents want stories that reflect the full spectrum of relationships.”
At some point, Hollywood and other entertainment media will have to come to grips with the fact that their content is being rejected left and right by the American public. People want to consume good content and not be bombarded with content that’s overly moralistic and political in nature.
Nevertheless, Americans need to focus more on rebuilding their communities and getting their houses in order, before getting back to any form of consumption. There are simply too many consumers and not enough producers in our society. This has to change if we want to genuinely advance as a society.
