Syracuse University Food Services Apologizes for Dinner Menu that Featured Fried Chicken

On January 25, 2024, Syracuse University Food Services published an apology for its Martin Luther King Jr. Dinner menu which consisted of fried chicken, lemonade, and mac and cheese.

The menu (pictured), originally posted last week by SU FoodServices on its Instagram page, later was reposted by the Barstool Syracuse subsequently reposted the MLK dinner menu with text that read as follows:

“SU Food Services posted this yesterday and was later taken down.”

According to Food Services’ public apology, it had “recognized that [the menu’s] content was insensitive,” and it “regrets that [its] actions have negatively impacted” its customers.

It stressed that everyone involved in the menu’s creation “worked hard to be inclusive.”

This story is just the latest in a litany of incidents that deal with political correctness and wokism according to a report by Dave Huber. In 2023, the New York State middle school angered the wokes after it served chicken and waffles for lunch, with watermelon being offered as dessert, on the first day of Black History Month.

A few years prior, a black New York University student threw a fit about a Black History Month menu — that black employees created — featuring barbecue ribs,  collard greens, corn bread, Kool-Aid, and watermelon-flavored water. In the end, the employees were fired.

These incidents show how sensitive Americans have become in recent decades. The crystallization of political correctness and wokism in the education system and broader culture has created an entire generation of woke robots who get offended by everything.

Such immature behavior will unfortunately transfer to the political realm once these people come of age politically. Namely, such a mindset will be expressed in the form of hate speech laws and other infringements on free speech.

Ultimately, defeating these noxious ideas is absolutely necessary if we want to preserve any semblance of free speech in the US.
