Tennessee Career Criminal Arrested in Homicide of Nashville ICU Nurse – Previously Convicted Of Mass Shooting!
A 21-year old man with two convictions for violent crimes as a juvenile has been arrested in the shooting homicide of a Nashville, Tennessee nurse. 26-year Caitlyn Kaufman was shot and killed as she was driving to work at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville in I-440 on December 3rd, with local law enforcement launching an extensive investigation to apprehend a suspect afterwards.
An anonymous tip led Metropolitan Nashville Police to arrest 21-year old Devaunte Hill at an apartment complex on Friday. He’s being charged with criminal homicide in the death of Kaufman.
NMPD Chief John Drake announced in a press conference that 21-year old Hill had implicated himself in the highway shooting death of Kaufman in an interview with detectives following his arrest. Ballistic testing also allegedly matches rounds fired in the shooting with a 9mm handgun in Hill’s possession. A motive in the shooting is still unclear, with the investigation indicating that six rounds were fired at Kaufman’s vehicle from the corner of the road.
Nashville community members had raised a reward sum of over $50,000 in hopes of justice in the senseless shooting death of Kaufman, who appears to have been targeted on a random basis.

Hill has been convicted of two violent crimes as a juvenile, according to a report from Tennessee’s News 5. He plead guilty to both aggravated assault and aggravated robbery, receiving a slap on the wrist within the juvenile justice system.
Shockingly, Hill was originally charged with four counts of attempted homicide in his 2016 aggravated assault conviction, having shot his grandmother and his minor sister and nephews. Somehow, he was spared serious prison time after shooting three people, including two children.
Most recently, Hill was arrested as an adult on charges of charges of assault, driving without a license, failure to be booked and drug paraphernalia dating back to as recently as August.
Something is very wrong with a criminal justice system when someone shoots three people and is released to the streets to shoot and kill someone less than five years later.
