Texas Gun Rights PAC Endorses Conservative Firebrand Tony Tinderholt

On January 8, 2024, Texas Gun Rights’ Political Action Committee (PAC) endorsed Texas State House Representative Tony Tinderholt for re-election in the 2024 election cycle. Since being elected in 2014, Tinderholt has been a champion for pro-Second Amendment causes such as Constitutional Carry — the idea that any lawful individual can carry a firearm without having to beg the government for permission — and other grassroots conservative policy items such as school choice.

Tinderholt is also the author of the Second Amendment Preservation Act, which effectively adds criminal sanctions for federal agents who enforce unconstitutional gun grabs coming from the Biden regime. It’s a form of gun control nullification that conservatives are beginning to embrace in a political period where the federal government’s legitimacy is being challenged on a regular basis.

Tinderholt was initially elected in 2014 after defeating incumbent State Representative Diane Patrick in the Republican primary election on March 4, 2014. Tinderholt positioned himself as a staunch conservative, who received a key endorsement from conservative organization Empower Texans during his primary challenge. He won this race by a margin of 55.44% to 44.55%. Tinderholt would soundly win his general election race that year against Democrat rival Cole Ballweg by a margin of 56.6% to 40.5%.

Tinderholt recently defeated Dennis Sherrard in the 2022 election cycle by a margin of 56.6% to 43.4%. All things being equal, Tinderholt should cruise to victory in the 2024 election cycle, which would represent a major win for conservative voters.
