Texas State Government Finally Prohibits Child Gender Mutilation in 2023
In 2023, the Texas state government finally passed legislation to prohibit gender mutilative drugs and surgeries for children.
Senate Bill 14, which was authored by State Senator Donna Campbell, went into effect on September 1 and prohibited puberty-blocking drugs and sterilizing surgeries for children under the age of 18.
What prompted the passage of this law was a 2019 custody battle over 7-year-old James Younger.
A Dallas jury ruled against James’ father, Jeff Younger, for attempting to prevent his ex-wife from raising their son as a girl.
James’ mother revealed that she had plans of using puberty-blocking drugs on the child.
In 2022, Governor Greg Abbott finally instructed the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to kick off investigations into “abusive procedures” that children are subjected for “gender transitioning.”
In May 2023, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced a probe into Dell Children’s Medical Center for allegedly conducting illegal performance of procedures for “gender transitioning.”
“It is now alarmingly common for fringe activists to use their positions in medicine and health care to force experimental, life-altering procedures onto children,” declared Paxton in a press release.
Per a report by The Guardian, the investigation compelled all the physicians working in the adolescent medicine department to leave. Even prior to the activation of SB 14, doctors and families looking to carry out gender mutilation procedures started to leave the state, which includes a family involved in a lawsuit asserting SB 14 infringed on their parental rights.
The family claimed they would move out of state to obtain puberty blockers for their child and segued that SB 14 would prevent them from providing “medical care” for their children.
Despite the legal struggle, Paxton halted Judge Maria Cantú Hexsel’s temporary injunction against SB 14, allowing the law to be enforced.
Close to 30,000 Texas children in the age range of 13-17 “identified as transgender” per a 2022 statistical analysis by the Williams Institute.
Since SB 14 has been enacted, LGBT advocacy organizations have been created to transport minors to other states for gender mutilative procedures. One of the most notable organizations is North Texas TRANSportation Network, which grants “gender-diverse” minors the ability to submit an application for a $1,000 travel voucher.
Texas is finally living up to its right-wing image by passing this sensible law. Degeneracy simply cannot be debated out of existence. It must be confronted with prudential legislation so that the Left can be put in its place.
