The Biden Regime Defends West Point’s Anti-White Admissions Policy

On November 29, 2023, the Biden regime called on a federal judge to throw out a legal challenge to the United States Military Academy at West Point’s use of race in admissions. It declared that Army diversity was “integral to ensuring national security.”

In a brief, the US Department of Justice contended that the military academy’s affirmative-action policies are still valid even following the US Supreme Court’s June decision overturning affirmative actions policies routinely used by colleges to increase the enrollment of Black, Hispanic and other non-white students.

Students for Fair Admissions was the group that initially filed the lawsuits that eventually led to the Court’s decision to overturn affirmative action. This same group is suing West Point for its race-centric policies in federal court in White Plains, New York.

Back in September, SFFA filed a lawsuit claiming that the academy’s admissions practices were discriminatory in nature against white applicants and infringed on the principle of equal protection that is enshrined in the US Constitution’s Fifth Amendment.

The brief was filed before arguments that are set to take place on December 21 before US District Judge Philip Halper. These arguments will deal with respect to SFFA’s request for a preliminary injunction

The lawsuit, in addition to the one SFFA has filed against the US Naval Academy, aims to end an exemption featured in the Supreme Court ruling that granted military academies the ability to continue considering race as a factor in admitting cadets.

The Supreme Court’s landmark ruling overruling race-conscious admissions policies used by Harvard University and the University of North Carolina did not tackle race in admissions at military academies, which Chief Justice John Roberts declared had “potentially distinct interests.”

In the brief, the Justice Department argued that West Point was a “vital pipeline to the officer corps” and that its anti-white admissions practices helped the Army reach its “mission critical” goal of having officers as diverse as its rank-and-file military members.

While black people comprise 20.2% of the Army’s active duty enlisted personnel, just 11% are officers, the Justice Department reported. Hispanic people make up 18% of active personnel but only 9% of officers, the department added.

In contrast, 51.7% of the Army active duty enlisted corps is white,  while 68% of officers are white, the Justice Department noted.

The DC regime is anti-white, no matter how one slices it. From anti-discrimination laws that undermine whites’ rights to voluntary association to racial quotas in the military, there’s a clear trend of white displacement being prosecuted by political elites.

If the military is to fall, the anti-whites will have a massive arsenal at their disposal — a frightening prospect if there ever was one. Such schemes must be stopped in their tracks if we want any semblance of order to remain in this polity.
