The Biden Regime has Granted Parole to About 360,000 Illegal Aliens Annually

Earlier this year, the Department of Homeland Security revealed it would admit 30,000 migrants monthly from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. This Biden regime agency rationalized the move by saying that the present has broad powers to parole illegal aliens into the United States.

However, Ira Mehlman, the Media Director of the Federation of American Immigration Reform, noted that “The statute that grants the president parole power defines clear limits on that authority. It may be exercised only on a temporary, case-by-case basis and only under circumstances where there are ‘urgent humanitarian reasons’ or ‘significant public benefit.’”

Mehlman added that the program “establishes an unconstitutional immigration channel for citizens of four nations that will continue in perpetuity for the sole purpose of making it appear that fewer migrants are crashing our borders illegally.” Under the Constitution, the US Congress has the power to create immigration laws. However, the executive branch’s role is limited to the implementation and enforcement of immigration laws, something that the Biden regime is abusing.

Mehlman observed that the 360,000 migrants who will be admitted annually will make up over one-third of the number of green cards issued annually under the present immigration system. The FAIR media director noted that when this system is “fully up and running, the number of people admitted under the Biden parole program will be more than double the number of employment-based green cards that are issued each year.”.

Several elected officials in Congress such as Ohio Senator JD Vance and Arizona Congressman Andy Biggs have called on Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to provide justification for the DHS’s “reckless decision to radically expand immigration parole programs in the midst of an historic border crisis.”

Vance accused the Biden regime of attempting to “sidestep Congress and the law by granting parole to hundreds of thousands of illegal migrants. The American people deserve to know why the Biden administration has taken this action, and more importantly, what legal justification there is to support it.”

Arizona Congressman Biggs blamed Mayorkas of not telling the truth when he asserted that the Biden regime was operating within the statutory limits of presidential parole authority. “Secretary Mayorkas testified under oath that parole is ‘judged on an individualized case-by-case basis,’ but I have seen no evidence to support this claim. Instead, his department is abusing the parole authority to mass-release hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens into the country,” Biggs stated.

While the Biden regime will likely not get its way with regards to legislative amnesty due to congressional gridlock, it will find every way possible to encourage mass migration. Immigration patriots must be ready to oppose each and every one of these schemes. The more the Biden regime is able to get away with, the easier it will be for future open borders administrations to pass mass amnesty and other immigration expansionist schemes.
