The Biden Regime is Requiring More Gun Dealers To Carry Out Background Checks On Buyers

Thanks to a Biden regime rule that recently went into effect, thousands of additional gun dealers nationwide will have to conduct background checks on purchasers when selling at gun shows or other venues outside of traditional gun stores.

The rule has the aim of closing a loophole that has let unlicensed gun dealers sell tens of thousands of firearms annually. These dealers don’t carry out background checks  but under this new rule gun store owners will have to determine if the purchasers are legally banned from possessing a firearm.

“This is going to keep guns out of the hands of domestic abusers and felons,” President Joe Biden declared in a statement. “And my administration is going to continue to do everything we possibly can to save lives. Congress needs to finish the job and pass universal background checks legislation now.”

The rule sets forth that any individual who sells guns largely to make a profit must possess a federal license and carry out background checks, irrespective of whether they are selling on the internet, at a gun show or at a regular gun store, US Attorney General Merrick Garland said to reporters.

The Biden regime first put forward the rule in August following the passage of the most comprehensive gun control bill in decades. This was a bipartisan compromise in response to the killing of 19 students and two teachers at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.

That law expanded the definition of those who are “engaged in the business” of selling guns, and are mandated to become licensed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which subsequently compels the usage of background checks. The rule, which carries out the change in the law, will go into effect 30 days after it is published in the Federal Register.

There are currently close to 80,000 federally licensed firearms dealers. The Biden regime believes that the new rule will affect north of 20,000 dealers who have allegedly sold firearms without a license and carrying out background checks at places such as gun shows and on the internet by asserting they aren’t “engaged in the business” of gun sales.

This regulation is clearly a step towards creating a universal background check system — one of the first steps towards setting up a registration system. And as anyone who understands the dynamics of gun control, registration is the first step towards confiscation.

For that reason, this Biden rule and every other ATF policy should be vehemently opposed.
