The Biden Regime Pressures Israel to Develop a Post-War Plan for Gaza

Israel’s prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been facing increasing pressure from the Biden Regime over his failure to put forward a vision for Gaza’s future. This comes at a time when the Israel Defense Forces are getting ready to resume its offensive after a ceasefire.

The IDF are planning to carry out military operations inside Gaza for close to a year, a senior IDF officer told The Times. This hypothetical timeline goes well beyond any likely end date for Israel’s projected takeover of the strip, if operations restart and maintain their recent pace.

Those plans will likely consist of crafting new security arrangements for Gaza’s future governance. Netanyahu has hinted at  the Israel army forging a system of security control “indefinitely”, even after it has “eradicated Hamas” — the ostensive goal of Israel’s punitive military campaign against Hamas.

President Biden, however, has indicated that he would reject a permanent occupation of Gaza by Israeli forces and even the expulsion of Palestinians in Gaza — a move backed by supporters of the Israeli hard Right.

In addition to most Western countries, the Biden regime is urging Netanyahu to preside over a resumption of talks with the Palestinian Authority for a “two-state solution”.

“There must be no forcible displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, no reoccupation, no siege or blockade, and no reduction in territory,” Biden recently declared in an article at The Washington Post.

In the long-term, Biden wants “Gaza and the West Bank reunited under a single governance structure, ultimately under a revitalized Palestinian Authority (PA).”

That said, Israel prefers to not deal with the PA, and instead like to deal indirectly with Hamas, which does not support a two-state solution

It remains to be seen how things will play out in Israel. However, it looks like the nature of the US’s relationship with Israel is changing due to the US’s shifting demographics, there are far more non-whites in the electorate who are not as sympathetic towards Israel. As a result, the Democratic Party, which largely counts on the support of non-whites, will face tough decisions on how to deal with Israel.

We are already witnessing this with the Biden regime’s increasingly lukewarm policy towards Israel. In an ideal world, Israel  would be geared just like any other nation and not be in an entangling alliance with the US. It must ultimately fend for its own interests and assume the full consequences of its controversial geopolitical behavior.
