The United States is Ready to Reach a Diplomatic Solution With Yemen

On April 3, 2024, Mohammad Ali al-Houthi, a senior member of the Yemen’s Supreme Political Council,  announced that the Yemeni armed forces still have many military surprises in their quest to protect Yemen and support the Palestinian cause in Gaza.

“We still have many military surprises,” Houthi said to Yemen’s Al-Masirah TV, continuing by noting that, “The enemy’s occupation of part of our land did not hinder our goal to support Palestine.”

“From the coast of the Red Sea or from outside it, we can achieve the goals we want in defense of our country and support of Palestine … We still have many military surprises, and there are military operations that we are keeping secret as part of a specific media strategy,” the Yemeni official continued sounding off.

His remarks came at the same time that United States Special Envoy for Yemen Timothy Lenderking, declared that “there is no military solution” for Yemen.

“We favor a diplomatic solution; we know that there is no military solution,” the US official stated  on April xxx, 2024 Wednesday.

He also reiterated US claims that Yemen is “hurting” Palestinians by targeting US, UK, and Israeli-connected by vessels in the Red Sea.

“The Houthis claim to be helping the Palestinians but are hurting them,” he stated during a briefing from Muscat following a meeting with Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Al-Busaidi. “We all want Yemen to be a source of stability for the region.”

Since January, the US navy has been unable to slow down Yemeni attacks against Israeli commercial interests despite its concerted bombing campaigns against Yemen.

Houthi resistance  leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi announced on March 14 that the Houthi rebels and the Yemeni army will broaden its naval campaign beyond the Red Sea and into the Indian Ocean.

The US is clearly overstretched with its vast overseas empire now starting to be challenged on nearly all fronts. Now it could be facing the prospect of an embarrassing military reversal in Yemen.

The only way to avoid further humiliation is for the US to stop meddling in the Middle East and withdraw from the region altogether.

These military resources would be better re-allocated towards border security measures.
