Three Palestinian Students are Shot in Burlington, Vermont

On the night of November 25, 2023, three Palestinian university students, two who were donning keffiyehs, were shot and critically wounded in Burlington, Vermont.

The three Palestinian students in question, Tahseen Ahmad (Trinity College), Kinnan Hamid (Haverford College) and Hisham Awartani (Brown University) were confirmed as graduates of the Ramallah Friends School in the West Bank.

Burlington Police Chief Jon Murad noted that the three Palestinians were “confronted by a white male with a handgun” who was present in the area. “Without speaking, he discharged at least four rounds from the pistol and is believed to have fled on foot,” he continued.

“At this time, there is no additional information to suggest the suspect’s motive, such as statements or remarks by the suspect,” Murad declared, though he said “in this charged moment, no one can look at this incident and not suspect that it may have been a hate-motivated crime. I have already been in touch with federal investigatory and prosecutorial partners to prepare for that if it’s proven.”

He continued by noting that “the fact is that we don’t yet know as much as we want to right now. But I urge the public to avoid making conclusions based on statements from uninvolved parties who know even less.”

This shooting comes at a time when tensions between Palestinians and Israelis are reaching alarming levels in Israel. With the West becoming increasingly ppnon-white many of the ethnic hatreds that mark the Middle East will make their way to the US.

That is one of the many perils of multiculturalism.

Hopefully, far-sighted policymakers recognize this and start making moves to restrict immigration. Continued mass migration will only guarantee that tribal ethnic conflicts pop off.
