Trouble In Paradise: Obama Tells Other Democrat Leaders that Biden‘s Re-Election Effort is No Longer Viable

According to a report by The Washington Post, former President Barack Obama informed allies in the last few days that sitting President Joe Biden’s re-election efforts are withering away rapidly. Obama allegedly stated that Biden should strongly reconsider the prospects of his candidacy, per multiple sources briefed on Obama’s thoughts on the matter.

Obama has spoken with Biden only once since his debate debacle on June 28, 2024. At first, Obama indicated that Biden’s re-election campaign is something for him to decide out of concern for protecting Biden’s legacy.

Behind the scenes, Obama has had intense conversations about the future of Biden’s campaign, a matter that he has discussed with the likes of California Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, all of whom have increasingly casted doubts about the viability of Biden’s re-election bid.

Obama has been playing the role of advisor to Biden, who previously served as his vice president. Like other leading Democrat figures, Obama is concerned that Biden won’t be able to beat Trump.

Throughout these discussions, Obama indicated that he believes Biden has been a great president and wants to protect his perceived accomplishments, which could go up in flames if Republicans flip the White House and maintain solid control of the House and the Senate.

Obama has largely based his views about Biden’s re-election prospects on polls showing that former President Donald Trump is winning decisively as the 2024 presidential election race quickly approaches.

However, Biden himself has stood his ground and has refused to drop out thus far. On July 17, Biden allegedly tested positive for Wuhan virus and took a break from his usual campaign routine.

On July 18. Biden’s principal deputy campaign manager Quentin Fulks said that Biden’s campaign was moving ahead. “He is not wavering on anything,” Fulks stated. “The president has made his decision. I don’t want to be rude, but I don’t know how many more times we can answer that.”

Leading Democrats in Congress such as House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer have held sobering talks with Biden in the last week, expressing their skepticism about the viability of his re-election bid. Only time will tell if Biden will yield to this call for him to re-sign.

One thing is certain, the Democratic Party Convention is going to be a madhouse.
