President Donald J. Trump Tweeted Friday that he would not accept the distinction of being the selected as Time magazine’s most significant person of 2017.
Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named “Man (Person) of the Year,” like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot. I said probably is no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!

Time magazine responded less than three hours later.
The President is incorrect about how we choose Person of the Year. TIME does not comment on our choice until publication, which is December 6.

Time magazine is part of the same company, Time-Warner, that owns CNN, AOL and the old Time-Life family of magazines, such as “People,” as well as the cable channel Home Box Office, DC Comics and the Warner Brothers movie studio.
