Trump Vows to Reverse Biden Regime’s Executive Order On AI

During a recent rally in Cedar Rapids Iowa, former President Donald Trump announced his promise to throw out an executive order issued by President Joe Biden dealing with the use of artificial intelligence (AI).

Trump was particularly critical of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, who he believes has been exploiting AI as a tool for free speech censorship. For that reason, he wants to nullify Biden’s executive order.

“When I’m reelected, I will cancel Biden’s artificial intelligence executive order and ban the use of AI to censor the speech of American citizens on day one,” he remarked.

Biden’s executive order was issued back in October. It ostensibly put forward a plan to deal with mitigating job loss, while also carrying out algorithm safety evaluations, and developing tools for identifying AI-generated images.

AI has tremendous potential in advancing America’s economy. However, the best way such technology can be leveraged is through private sector initiative. Getting the DC managerial regime is just asking for all sorts of trouble.

In sum, the best way to deal with the AI question is for policymakers to abide by a separation of technology and state. With the federal government’s long track record of infringing on civil liberties and creating inefficiencies in the market, the last thing we need is for the state to get its dirty paws in the private sector.
