U.S. Catholic Bishops Stick with Fossil Fuels, Ignore ‘Green New Deal’ Mandates From Pope Francis

U.S. Catholic Bishops are defying Pope Francis’ “Green New Deal” mandates to divest from fossil fuels as Francis takes the Catholic Church in a radically liberal direction.

Not one U.S. Catholic diocese has divested from their fossil fuel assets following the Pope’s 2021 encyclical about climate change. This is in sharp contrast to dioceses throughout the world, as hundreds are following Pope Francis down the road to environmental communism.

“From a Catholic perspective, ethical and socially responsible investing, as the strategy has come to be known, requires us to evaluate specific investments in terms of how those companies or entities protect life, promote human dignity, act justly, enhance the common good, and provide care for the environment,” the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) stated in their guidance on socially-responsible investing.

Although the USCCB told Reuters that they respect the Pope’s encyclical and updated their guidance in 2021 to reflect that, they are not mandating any diocese to reject fossil fuels at the present time.

“The 2021 update endeavored to provide a practical guidance for investments based on the teaching of Pope Francis,” said Chieko Noguchi, a USCCB spokesperson.

The Pope is reportedly not happy with their unwillingness to accept his far-left edicts. He is ramping up the heated rhetoric and coercion in an attempt to get Bishops to submit.

“According to the commitments undertaken in the Paris Agreement to restrain global warming, it is absurd to permit the continued exploration and expansion of fossil fuel infrastructures,” Pope Francis said during a speech earlier this year

“The unrestrained burning of fossil fuels and the destruction of forests are pushing temperatures higher and leading to massive droughts,” the Pope continued before bashing fracking and “unchecked mega-mining projects” as well.

The Pope had intended to attend COP28, the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference, that is currently underway in Dubai but ultimately had to cancel his appearance due to health issues. He may give a video address in order to spread more leftist propaganda about the environment to the audience of globalist elitists.

“He’s making another appeal,” said Dan DiLeo, who serves as director for the Justice and Peace Studies Program at Nebraska’s Creighton University. “This is a call and a plea for fidelity.”

As seen with his recent endorsement of transgenderism, the agenda of Pope Francis has strayed far from the teachings and the divinity of Jesus Christ. He serves the New World Order beast system.
