U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Chris Magnus Resigned From Position After Growing Backlash for Not Protecting the Border
On November 12, 2022, the Biden regime announced that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Chris Magnus had resigned from his position.
Magnus was previously appointed to the position in December 2021. He tendered his resignation to Biden on November 12, which the Daily Caller observed “was immediately accepted.” According to Daily Caller, Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas called on Magnus to resign from his position, lest he get unceremoniously fired.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times that took place on the night of November 11, Magnus initially said that he would not follow Mayorkas’ suggestion to resign.
“I expressed to him that I felt there was no justification for me to resign when I still cared deeply about the work I was doing,” he said to the LA Times.
That said, the next day, Magnus took the opposite course of action. Magnus handed over his resignation letter to the Biden regime, and in the letter he wrote that “I am submitting my resignation effective immediately but wish you and your administration the very best going forward.”
Magnus’ resignation came at a time when illegal alien crossings across the United States’ border with Mexico reached record-breaking levels. US Border Patrol arrested north of 2.4 million alien invaders in the present fiscal year, according to the agency’s figures.
Republicans and some Democrats representing border districts have criticized the Biden regime’s immigration policies. Senate Republicans have even described the situation at the border as “the worst border crisis in our history.” Several immigration patriot pundits have argued that the continued increases in illegal crossings were brought about by Biden regime policies such as the the lifting of Trump administration’s “Remain in Mexico” policy, which compelled asylum seekers at the southern border to stay in Mexico as their asylum claims were being processed. The Biden regime scrapped the policy after the Supreme Court ruled that it could do so.
On top of that, the Biden regime gutted Title 42 of the Public Health Service Act, which was initially used to expedite the expulsion of illegal alien invaders on public health grounds. Throughout the Wuhan virus pandemic, this measure was used to expel roughly 1.8 million people from the US, according to the American Immigration Council.
On April 1, the Biden regime announced the termination of Title 42 expulsions.
Magnus declared on a prior occasion that Title 42 came with a “human cost” for migrants, which was in line with pro-open borders Democrat talking points.
Magnus’ departure is a welcome development. Nevertheless, his replacement will likely be worse, and will try to more faithfully facilitate Democrats’ agenda to “Elect a New People.”
America Firsters must continue making immigration the #1 issue. Once in power, they must purge the DHS of pro-open borders personnel, if not abolish it, and fully militarize the border.
Continuing to have our southern border open will lead to the death of the Historic American Nation. Those are the stakes in 2022 and beyond.
