UNHINGED: Former Obama Adviser Claims Killing 4,000 Palestinian Children “Wasn’t Enough”

Stuart Seldowitz was recently fired from his position as foreign affairs chair for Gotham Government Relations for videos showing him making anti-Palestinian comments and threats to a food cart employee in New York City.

The videos were posted on X by a Columbia University student, showing Stuart Seldowitz asking someone off camera, “Did you rape your daughter like Muhammad did?” and saying that killing 4,000 Palestinian children “wasn’t enough.”

Seldowitz previously served as acting director for the National Security Council South Asia Directorate under the administration of former President Barack Obama and was deputy director/senior political officer in the United States State Department’s Office of Israel and Palestinian Affairs from 1999 to 2003. His most recent job was for the aforementioned Gotham Government Relations.

On the afternoon of November 21, 2023, Gotham announced on Twitter that it had fired Seldowitz.

“Gotham Government Relations has ended all affiliation with Stuart Seldowitz, an individual who hasn’t contributed to our work in years. The video of his actions is vile, racist, and beneath the dignity of the standards we practice at our firm,” the statement read. His page has also been taken down from the firm’s website.

Neither Gotham nor Seldowitz responded to VICE News’ requests for comment.

In one of the videos, Seldowitz had his phone out and was talking to a man who appears to be inside a food cart. Seldowitz alluded to his “friends in immigration” and said, “the Mukhabarat [Egyptian intelligence agency ] wants your picture.”

“The Mukhabarat in Egypt will get your parents. Does your father like his fingernails? They’ll take them out one by one,” he added, as the food cart worker told him multiple times to leave.

“Tell me why I should go? I’m standing here. I’m an American. It’s a free country. It’s not like Egypt,” Seldowitz snapped back.

Seldowitz subsequently repeatedly asked, “Did you rape your daughter like Muhammad did?”

When the man indicated he doesn’t speak English, Seldowitz insulted by calling him “ignorant.”

“Muhammad, your prophet… He was a rapist,” he stated.

Seldowitz then asks the man if he is able to speak Arabic, “the language of the Quran.”

“The holy Quran that some people use as a toilet. What do you think of that, people who used the Quran as a toilet? Does it bother you?” he inquired, as he laughed.

He then chewed the man out for not speaking English.

“That’s why you’re selling food in a food cart, because you’re ignorant. But you should learn English, it’ll help you when they deport you back to Egypt and the Mukhabarat wants to interview you.”

In another video, Seldowtiz said “It’s not my fault that you pray to a criminal.”

The employee asks Seldowitz to leave “please.” However, Seldowitz refused to leave.

“I’m going to put up big signs here that say ‘This guy believes in Hamas,’” Seldowitz said and blamed the vendor for not having a permit or visa.

When the vendor stated that he’s an American citizen, Seldowitz asked how he became a citizen and went on to call him a “terrorist.”

“You support killing little children. You’re a terrible person,” Seldowitz proclaimed.

The vendor replied, “You kill children, not me.”

Seldowitz then declared, “If we killed 4,000 Palestinian kids, you know what, it wasn’t enough. It wasn’t enough.”

Seldowitz’s remarks are those of an unhinged Zionist, which are disproportionately present in the US government and the broader NGO space in the US. While the US should remain neutral in the Israel-Hamas conflict — in an ideal world —, it should not definitely not cast its lot with Israel, which has grown increasingly unstable due to the rise of the ethno-religious Right in its political scene over the last few decades.

This is one region the US should not continue to be involved in due to its explosive nature.
