US National Security State Plans Multi-Week Bombing Campaign Against Iranian Assets Across Middle East

United States officials informed NBC News that the US government is planning to carry out  a multi-week bombing campaign in the Middle East as a response to the drone attack in northeast Jordan that ended in the deaths of three American soldiers.

The officials indicated that the targets will likely include Iranian targets outside of Iran, and the campaign will consist of strikes and cyber operations. Other reports have revealed that the US government is floating the idea of targeting Iranian assets in Iraq and Syria or the Iranian navy.

Although these prospective targets are not inside Iran, direct attacks on Iranian military assets could kick off a full-blown war between the US and Iran. The US is likely going to pursue these moves although the Defense Department conceded it has no evidence Iran was directly involved in the drone attack against American troops in Jordan.

The Pentagon Departments has stated the Jordan attack was likely carried out by Kataib Hezbollah, one of the key Shia militias in Iraq. The US indicated that Iran is responsible only because it supplies weapons to Kataib Hezbollah and other Shia militias. American officials revealed to The New York Times that while Iran arms and bankrolls the Shia militias, there’s no evidence Iran is “calling the shots.”

On January 31, 2024, White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby revealed that US intelligence suggests the drone attack against American troops in Jordan was perpetrated by the Islamic Resistance of Iraq, an umbrella group of Shia militias in Iraq.

The Islamic Resistance has taken credit for the bulk of the 160 attacks that have been carried out against US forces in Iraq and Syria since the middle of October. The attacks have largely come about as a response to US support for the brutal Israeli military campaign in Gaza.

Iranian authorities have promised to retaliate to any US attacks on Iranians in the region. “The Islamic Republic would decisively respond to any attack on the county, its interests and nationals under any pretexts,” declared Amir Saeid Iravani, Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations.

The US’s national security state is committed to prosecuting a war against Iran. This is due to Zionist control of its foreign policy and decisionmaking class, which is obsessed with taking the fight to Iran.

These people need to be ignored and the US needs to pursue a non-interventionist foreign policy instead. Getting into a broader conflict with Iran will result in the US getting stuck in another Middle Eastern military quagmire that could accelerate its geopolitical and civilization decline.
