Vimeo Censors Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon’s Video About Social Media Censorship

On November 10, 2023, Seth Dillon, the CEO of the Babylon Bee, gave a speech at the David Horowitz Freedom Center’s Restoration Weekend about his fight against social media censorship.

Video hosting platform Vimeo would immediately remove this speech, showcasing another sign of an ongoing censorship campaign directed against anyone who dares challenge the political orthodoxies of our epoch.

“We were going back and forth when we pitched this joke,” Dillon had stated. “This by the way is one of the ways that they censor people. They censor you after the fact, but they also censor you before the fact. There’s pre-censorship that happens because people are afraid to make jokes and statements like this knowing they will probably get censored, so they censor themselves. My writers come to me all the time saying, ‘I’ve got a really funny joke, but if we publish this, we might get banned.’”

Once the event finished, the David Horowitz Freedom Center started distributing its speeches for conservatives to see by uploading them on Vimeo.

On November 13, 2023, the video was removed, Daniel Greenfield, Fellow at the David Horowitz Freedom Center, noted in a report for Front Page magazine.

Indeed, there’s a public-private partnership working to destroy freedom in the US. When the state can’t infringe on free speech rights, it will outsource this dirty task to unscrupulous actors in the private sector. In many ways, tech companies act as de facto appendages of the DC regime.

A proper nationalist movement would do everything possible to curtail the power of these private institutions. We can’t continue letting these entities get away with functioning as de facto Pinkertons of a DC regime that seeks to destroy basic freedoms.
