Vladimir Putin: Trump is ‘Talented,’ Liberalism is Obsolete

In a Thursday interview with the Financial Times, Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke in flattering terms about President Donald Trump, while casting shade upon global liberalism.

Putin described President Trump as talented. “Mr. Trump is not a career politician. I do not accept many of his methods when it comes to addressing problems. But do you know what I think? I think that he is a talented person. He knows very well what his voters expect from him.” The Russian President is expected to meet with President Trump at the upcoming G20 Summit in Japan.

Putin also shared his thoughts on international liberalism, seeming to endorse the national populist movements in Europe and North America that stand in opposition to it.

President Putin described the “liberal idea” as having “outlived its purpose,” having reached a point of being rejected by the general public for its affixation with mass immigration, political correctness, and diversity.

This liberal idea presupposes that nothing needs to be done. That migrants can kill, plunder and rape with impunity because their rights as migrants have to be protected. Every crime must have its punishment. The liberal idea has become obsolete. It has come into conflict with the interests of the overwhelming majority of the population.

Liberals reacted with indignation, such as Donald Tusk, the President of the globalist European Union’s European Council. Tusk claimed that Putin was the leader of a “personality cult.”

Putin will meet with President Trump and other world leaders on Friday to discuss topics of interest such as North Korea, Ukraine, and ongoing Iran tensions reverberating throughout the Middle East.
