Corey Lewandowski, the former campaign manager for President Trump and co-author of “Let Trump be Trump,” offered hours of testimony to the House Judiciary Committee today, which featured many highlights of Lewandowski flexing on frustrated and hapless Democratic lawmakers.
Lewandowski started the hearing by setting the tone with a hard-hitting opening statement on the Democrats’ dereliction of duty in continuing their witch hunt against President Trump:

“We, as a Nation, would be better served if elected officials like you concentrated your efforts to combat the true crises facing our country, as opposed to going down rabbit holes like this hearing.” pic.twitter.com/OfpmbccidG

He embarrassed Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) by just letting her talk, as she seemed like an unhinged bully while Lewandowski simply kept his composure and calmly exposed her tactics.
Rep. Nadler: "The witness may answer the question."
Lewandowski: "I don't believe there was a question Congressman."
Rep. Jackson Lee: "Yes there was."
CL: "Could you repeat the question? I didn't hear it."
SJL: "I'd be happy to repeat the question."
CL: "Just a rant." pic.twitter.com/cNFkwgy3iE

He demonstrated his comedic chops in an exchange with Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY):
Democrat Congressman: “Are you the hitman, the bagman, the lookout, or all of the above?”
Corey Lewandowski: “I think I’m the good looking man actually.”
Congressman: "OK." pic.twitter.com/XwAOmMxmhW

Lewandowski bulldozed failed presidential candidate Eric Swallwell (D-CA) in a devastating exchange:
Lewandowski: "President Swalwell, I'm very happy of what I've written but you're welcome to read it if you like."
Swalwell: "Are you ashamed to read it aloud?"
Lewandowski: "I'm not ashamed of anything in my life, Congressman. Are you?"

House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) at one point became so flustered that he threatened Lewandowski to be held in contempt of Congress, before being exposed for a potential violation of Congressional procedure by Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA).
JUST IN: House Judiciary Chairman Rep. Jerry Nadler says that holding Corey Lewandowski "in contempt" is "certainly under consideration."

It wasn’t a completely one-sided affair though, as Lewandowski did have supporters in the committee. Republican Congressmen, including House Freedom Caucus members Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Jim Jordan (R-OH), rallied to Lewandowski’s defense for having to face this witch hunt:
.@CLewandowski_ worked with the Trump campaign for nearly 2 years. He testified they did not collude or coordinate with Russia. Sounds familiar.
James Comey, sitting at the same table as Lewandowski: same answer.
Bob Mueller: same table, same answer.

For the last four months, the path the majority has taken us on has rambled from disorganized to just downright dizzying.
Thanks to the Democrats, Mr. Lewandowski, we continue to engage in a charade that is overwhelmingly opposed by the American people. pic.twitter.com/TNtTYeV0Hk

Lewandowski was completely undaunted in the face of exhausting Democratic overreach, and even used the hearing to build buzz for a possible U.S. Senate campaign next year in his home state of New Hampshire.
He tweeted out a link to a website meant to build interest for his potential campaign next year during a brief midday recess at the hearing:
New website just launched to help a potential senate run. Sign up now! https://t.co/WlI11PaQ7M

Even his opponents were forced to admit that he got the better of Democrats during a grilling that was meant to damage Lewandowski as well as the President.
“The hearing was a political test, and the House Democrats failed it. They’re shudderingly terrible at this work; they lack the bloodthirsty instincts of political killers. Trump and the House GOP are playing nuclear hardball, and the House Democrats were playing the old normie politics of the days before social media, reality television, and the Insane Clown President,” wrote “Never Trump” political consultant Rick Wilson in a blog about the hearings.
President Trump was also very happy with his former subordinate’s display while in the hot seat against vicious Democrats desperate to gin up support for impeachment proceedings.
Such a beautiful Opening Statement by Corey Lewandowski! Thank you Corey! @CLewandowski_

If New Hampshire wants a Senator who knows how to own the libs, Lewandowski will be their man in 2020.

House Republicans Hoping to Get Americans Back to Work By End of April
It’s a aspiration, not a plan.
House Republicans are considering plans that would help Americans get back to work by the end of the month. Kevin Brady of Texas told reporters on a conference call that the caucus is preparing preliminary plans that phase the workforce back in at the end of April.
“Our focus is on locking down the virus while we’re taking the steps now to prepare to reopen the economy by the end of the month if the virus permits.”
Brady was careful to qualify that there’s no guarantee the public health situation in the United States would allow such a development.
“I think we should all expect the jobs, the unemployment in the GDP numbers to feel brutal over the short term. It’s because they are. This economy is taking hits like we’ve not seen in most of our lifetimes. But it is just a short-term hit.”
Initial social distancing guidelines set forth by the White House in conjunction with the CDC were extended from two weeks to April 30th earlier in the week, suggesting the executive branch may be cautiously looking towards the end of April to begin phasing out the unprecedented disruptions to everyday American life.
It is worth noting that an early cease to social distancing and commonsense measures to deter the spread of the Chinese coronavirus could prove to be even more harmful than the negative impacts to the economy since the beginning of the virus-related recession. This can’t be rushed. But the consequences of the economic damage are real, and all Americans should look to get everyday economic life up and running against as soon as possible.
