Who’s Calling The Shots? White House Walks Back Biden’s Pandemic Is ‘Over’ Claim

The White House has once again walked back some of Joe Biden’s comments. This time, they are going against the President’s recent claim on 60 minutes that the pandemic is “over.”

“The pandemic is over,” Biden replied to host Scott Pelley on 60 Minutes.

“We still have a problem with Covid. We’re still doing a lotta work on it. It’s—but the pandemic is over. if you notice, no one’s wearing masks. Everybody seems to be in pretty good shape. And so I think it’s changing. And I think this is a perfect example of it,” he added.

Though various claims from Biden’s interview on Sunday were walked back, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre specifically urged Americans to look at the context of the President’s “pandemic being over” claim.

“So, just to step back for a second,” Jean-Pierre said on MSNBC on Wednesday. “What we saw during that interview … when he made those comments, he was walking through the Detroit Car Show … and he was looking around.”

Apparently Biden was so enthralled by the Detroit Car Show that he was incapable of discussing the global pandemic that has impacted American lives since he first took office.

Jean-Pierre, in direct defiance of what Biden said Sunday, claimed that the pandemic may be “more manageable” and “not as disruptive,” but it is not over.

The Press Secretary then took credit for the Biden administration’s handling of the pandemic. Adding that the president still acknowledges the need to keep the pressure on to ensure Covid doesn’t reverse course and become an issue again.

The President received “quite a bit of pushback” for this initial claim that the pandemic was over according to the guest-host for MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

Other Democrat talking heads have been vocal about how there is still much to do to prevent another spread of the virus in the coming future.

Biden and Democrats have been pushing for mask mandates and Covid restrictions ever since he first took office. They have also used the pandemic as an excuse to push for wide-spread mail-in voting.
