YUCK: Rumors Suggest McConnell Is Pushing AZ Gov Ducey To Run For Senate

An article by Revolver news suggested that Mitch McConnell is urging Arizona Governor Doug Ducey to run in the next election for senator of the state. Critics of McConnell allege that this is another of many attempts by the Senate Minority Leader to sabotage the ‘America First’ movement by supporting candidates who are ideologically opposed to its mission.
The information was reportedly received by Revolver through a “source close to both Ducey and McConnell.”
Right now, though, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is trying to sabotage this transformation by urging Governor Doug Ducey to enter the race, and the only obstacle to his plans is Ducey’s wife.
According to a source close to both Ducey and McConnell, Angela Ducey is eager to be out of the political spotlight, and has become irate with McConnell’s constant pleas for her husband to enter the race. Besides the usual difficulties that come with being a politician’s spouse, the past year has been particularly rough for Angela as her husband has been savaged from the right for his role in certifying Joe Biden’s 2020 victory in the state.

Stakes for this senate race are high for Republican Party; with the US Senate split 50/50 between Republicans and Democrats, such a win offers more than just a symbolic “gotcha” to the Biden administration. Should Republicans pick up the seat with the right candidates, the GOP could potentially move forward to stop extremist nominees for both federal courts and even the Supreme Court. These nominations do not pertain to courts alone, as Republicans could also use this power (should they get it) to block ideologues like Gigi Sohn from joining crucial, powerful, and unelected entities like the FCC.
Should Ducey enter the senate race, he more than likely will not be an ally of Donald Trump or the ‘America First’ agenda. A recent piece of Politico shared by Revolver seems to all but confirm this.
In the past several months, Ducey has brought on four new staffers who previously worked for Arizona Sens. John McCain and Jeff Flake, including two who were state directors, according to a POLITICO review of the governor’s office’s staff announcements.
Trump has yet to endorse any candidate in the Arizona Senate race. If Ducey were to run, the former governor would likely be an instant favorite solely based on name recognition and proven electability. Some of Trump’s allies are worried about such a situation, prompting questions on if the former president will make a public announcement on who he decides to support.
