College Republican Leader Threatens BLP Writer with Legal Action Over Drag Queen Striptease Video

Big League Politics reporter and long-time Michigan Republican Party activist Shane Trejo is being threatened with legal action over a video he posted exposing a College Republican leader doing a drag queen striptease video.

Trejo originally wrote a piece about Twitter User @ChiefTrumpster’s video exposing College Republican Brandt Siegfried for performing a drag queen dance in “front of a gawking audience of liberals.”

The video would later be taken down.

Trejo noted that “As a Michigan GOP activist who has led the way in exposing Drag Queen Story Hour, transgender indoctrination, and other anti-conservative LGBT atrocities, I thought it was more than appropriate to point out that Siegfried was bringing this reprobate culture into the Republican ecosystem.”

Trejo previously covered one incident where a former Michigan College Republican official Dorian Thomson was fired from his job for coercing “college-aged young men into a hotel bathroom” at the 2020 CPAC. From there, Thompson “allegedly demanded that the young men allow him to inspect their genitals under the threat of destroying their futures in politics if they did not comply.”

Trejo has dedicated his writing career to exposing deviant behavior in the GOP.

The Michigan activist told BLP about why he has been cranking up his research into some GOP operative’s questionable behavior:

As a Michigan GOP activist who has led the way in exposing Drag Queen Story Hour, transgender indoctrination, and other anti-conservative LGBT atrocities, I thought it was more than appropriate to point out that Siegfried was bringing this reprobate culture into the Republican ecosystem. It is particularly prescient following former Michigan College Republicans official Dorian Thompson’s alleged predatory rampage of young boys at CPAC.

Trejo’s coverage of the assessment was well-received by grassroots activists in Michigan and caused a shockwave within College Republicans throughout Michigan and nationwide.

Because of the attention, Siegfried attempted to use government force in order to curtail Trejo’s freedom of speech. He asserted that he copyrighted the drag queen video in order to get it off the Internet. Trejo and his publisher were also threatened to remove the video or face penalties from the state.

Siegfried had the following message for Trejo:

Mr. Trejo,

I hope this message finds you having a blessed Good Friday.

I am writing so I can make you aware that a recent story you published uses video I own, and that I have legally copyrighted via Copyright.Gov.

I did not authorize the use of the video featured in the April 5 RightMI.com story “Drag Queen Story Hour…Starring The New Leader Of The Michigan College Republicans?” Nor did I authorize it for use on your YouTube channel, “Cronyism In The Capitol.”

This constitutes unlawful copyright infringement, and is in violation of federal law. The video must be taken down before noon on April 15, 2020.

If the video has not been removed by that time, I will work with my legal counsel to pursue ALL civil remedies necessary to facilitate its removal. Copyright infringement is a strict liability offense, it does not require intent.

I am looking forward to your cooperation, and hope you have a wonderful Easter.

Sincerely,

Brandt Siegfried

Right Michigan, a right wing activist blog, decided to remove the article for public consumption as a result of this threat. Right-wing YouTuber Vincent James covered the content featured in this article on his vlog channel. The video can be viewed here.

Trejo said he “will not back down” against any of Siegfried’s attempts to muzzle his reporting of the facts.

Trejo provided more detailed info about the situation in the piece below:

Trejo told BLP the following:

I just passed this information along to activists in my state because I thought it was relevant after seeing it on social media. I never thought I would receive a legal threat over this, particularly from a fellow Michigan Republican who I assumed would believe in limited government and freedom of speech.

The Michigan grassroots activist had choice words about Siegfried’s behavior:

The fact that Siegfried would posture so aggressively to get this video removed from the internet suggests that it is a big deal and College Republicans are desperate to keep it from spreading.

Trejo emphasized the importance of what the video conveyed:

This video is particularly important considering there are events like drag queen story hour in schools and libraries nationwide where children are openly being groomed by LGBT predators. I wouldn’t expect someone who performs in drag to stand for traditional values as a Republican leader. That is why I stand firmly behind my decision to get the video out to fellow activists.

BLP will continue to cover any developments related to Trejo’s story.
