DeSantis Sounds Alarm On George Soros’ Play To Control Hispanic Media

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has put out a warning to residents of his state, alerting them of a “takeover scheme” by a George Soros-backed company aimed at controlling conservative Hispanic media, and starting its work just months before the midterms and Florida’s gubernatorial election.

Soros’ funding is behind a wave of progressive prosecutors contributing to crime spikes across the U.S., NGOs that are driving the ongoing migrant crisis across the world and other nefarious activities, including an effort to restrict Americans’ Second Amendment rights. And now, it is behind a group that has goals to grow into every digital medium and control the Hispanic narrative.

The organization is called the Latino Media Network, a Hispanic media company that has raised $80 million for its operations. And the group has put that sum to use by recently purchasing 18 radio stations all around the nation from TelevisaUnivision — with Miami, Florida, being a market the group has now bought into.

DeSantis put out a public service announcement in a string of radio ads that began early this week, released in Spanish and letting members of Florida’s Hispanic community know about the Soros-funded attempt to “disinform” Floridians.

Desantis’ 60-second radio warning, translated to English, is transcribed on his website:

Warning voters! The Left is taking control of our local media. Billionaire George Soros, known for financing extreme leftist causes, is now financing the purchase of Hispanic radio stations right here in Miami. Soros teamed up with Biden supporters to buy this station from TelevisaUnivision.

Warning. They are coming with their ideological agenda. Soros and his minions know what this community represents in the fight against socialism in America. This Community will not get confused.

Also on his website is a short summary of the plot, pointing out that in Miami-Dade county, where the Latino Media Network is purchasing a conservative-leaning Hispanic radio station, Republicans have registered 1,300 more new voters than did Democrats since 2020. Now, a landmark conservative radio station there will be owned by a George Soros-backed finance company.

DeSantis warns at the bottom of the page that, “The formation of a new Hispanic media company known as the Latino Media Network was announced on Friday, June 3. The George Soros-funded and Obama/Biden alum-run network will include 18 Hispanic radio stations in 10 different markets, including Miami, which were purchased from TelevisaUnivision in a $60 million deal.”

According to reporting by Axios, Latino Media Network lists Lakestar Finance as its leading investor, a company grouped with Soros Fund Management in a web of Soros-backed organizations supporting leftist causes around the world.

Other notable collaborators include Hollywood actress Eva Longoria, who will be chipping in to finance the organization; Ana Navarro’s husband and former chairman of the Republican Party in Florida, Al Cardenas, who will serve as an adviser; New York Times lauded journalist Maria Elena Salinas, who will join Cardenas as an advisor; and Cumulus Media board member Tom Castro, who will now serve on the Latino Media Network’s board.

The network reportedly plans to grow into other digital mediums, from podcasts to YouTube videos.

In an interview on Newsmax’s “Eric Bolling: The Balance,” Florida Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nunez commented on the Soros takeover: “These radio stations, one here in South Florida, in particular, is iconic. It has been the voice of conservative viewpoints for so long; it has fought the cause of a free Cuba; it has fought alongside so many elected officials that are clamoring to make sure we preserve the American dream …”

Bringing up the fact that a media organization may not be owned simply for profit, but may be owned purely for influence, she commented, “Ask yourself, is it a business proposition? Is it a business deal? No. It is specific radio stations that are known to have a conservative viewpoint.”

Explaining the goal of this play to begin a takeover of Hispanic conservative media in South Florida, Nunez said, “So, what do they do? What is part of their playbook? Control the media; control the narrative; control the spin. And they think they can control the minds, the hearts and the souls of voters.”

DeSantis’ proactive approach to this play for influence in Florida’s politics shows the good leadership that conservatives have come to expect from him in these situations. His warning shines a light on the bait-and-switch this monied organization, run by leftists and anti-American elements, is trying to perpetrate on Florida.

As the fight to counter the left’s control of the narrative continues, situations like this remind us all to consider who owns the media that we consume and whether or not there is a masked agenda behind it. As Trump is known to call out Fox News for having anti-Trump pariah Paul Ryan sit on its board, we will soon be hearing conservatives calling out the Latino Media Network for the names on their organizational chart.

The left continues its march through the media, and it won’t stop until conservative ideas exist only in dark corners of the internet. It’s important to have leaders like DeSantis who are ready to push back.
