Fox News Publishes Opinion Piece in Support of Ending Electoral College

Normally, talk of abolishing the Electoral College is reserved for leftists – which is likely why Fox News published an opinion piece Wednesday calling for just that.

“In high school you were probably taught that the Electoral College is about federalism and keeping the presidency independent from Congress,” the piece said. “While there are some elements of truth to that analysis, the Electoral College morphed quickly into a means of protecting the interests of Southern elite slaveholders by the turn of the 19th century.”

That is the typical leftist talking point: the Electoral College is a symbol of racism that must be replaced in progressive America – or something. In reality, the Electoral College ensures that states with relatively small populations – every state other than New York and California – have a say in electing the president. Leftists always want to change the rules when they lose elections, instead of trying to win under the existing rules.

Leaving the Electoral College debate up to the “scholars,” the news here is that a formerly-conservative cable network is committing political suicide. Fox has steadily been doing that for the past few years, but has recently accelerated its timeline.

In just one week, the organization hired elitist RINO Paul Ryan to sit on its board, along with leftist Telemundo CEO Rolando Hernandez. Telemundo is owned by NBC. This was days after hiring far leftist and former head of the Democratic National Committee Donna Brazile as a commentator. All of that happened after the network suspended Judge Jeanine Pirro, an ally to President Donald J. Trump, for non-controversial comments about radical Islam and Sharia Law.

But for Tucker Carlson, the network’s highest-rated anchor, Fox has turned into CNN-lite, and shows no signs of slowing down.
