Husband of Los Angeles Prosecutor Jackie Lacey Charged with Assaulting Black Lives Matter Protestors

The husband of Democratic Los Angeles County prosecutor Jackie Lacey is being charged with three misdemeanors stemming from his armed confrontation of several Black Lives Matter protestors who arrived at his house to demand a “community meeting” with Lacey .
The charging documents were obtained by Politico and published on Tuesday. Xavier Becerra, the California Attorney General, is charging David Lacey with three misdemeanor counts of assault with a firearm against three people.

David Lacey showed exceptionally poor judgement during the incident, confronting the Los Angeles BLM protestors with his finger on the trigger of a firearm. The protestors don’t appear to have been engaging in illegal activity- it’s legal to solicit most residences through ringing on the doorbell if you aren’t asked to leave, although the protestors remained after David Lacey told them to “get off of my porch.”
David Lacey’s attorney, Samuel Tyre, released a statement expressing his disapproval that Becerra chose to file cirminal charges in the incident.
“My client and I are disappointed that the Attorney General’s Office felt that the conduct at issue amounted to criminal behavior. We disagree entirely with their assessment, but we have the utmost faith in the justice system, and we are confident that the correct result will be reached.
At this time we are not going to comment on the facts of the case, except to say that my client’s human instinct is forever and always to protect his wife and his family and to keep them safe from physical harm. We look forward to all relevant facts coming to light.”
Elected officials of Democratic cities and communities seem entirely inept at responding to criticism of their leadership from Black Lives Matter.
